We're not sure what sex this baby is but for those of you who know you're having a girl .... Greg Brown's song "daughters" is great!

I'm at a loss as to music. Dh has great taste in music but I'm afraid we'll end up with some Springstein or Tom Waits mixed in there if I leave it up to him. I think I need a little more mellow, upbeat and mellow... does that make sense?

Thanks for that Salt N Peppa video -- I was treated to a much needed laugh! On the other hand, watching that makes me feel OLD!

I think just ocean sounds for me. My kids are used to listening during bed time to mute out noise when we have company etc. so they could sleep. So I figured if they are sleeping and I'm in labor making a lot of noise, it'll help them sleep a little longer until baby is ready. (then I'm switch to Salt & pepper song and wake them all up) LOL

I think I'll dig out my yoga music CD's. A lot of tribal, chanting type stuff. I'm used to working hard physically and sweating when I listen to it, so I hope it will put me in good birthing zone. I'm with some of you on the no words stuff. Leave me alone and let me labor. We have enough music on our itunes at home though, that I'll be able to switch to something else if I'm feeling up for a concert!

I'm actually in the *I need quiet* group when it comes to labor.
Although I made myself a CD for the birth of my first (before I knew). I tried to put headphones on and listen while I was laboring and I was so annoyed to have my senses impeded with the headphones... and the music seemed annoying too... I didn't listen to even one song. I think I wanted to be inside my head and the music was pulling me out.

BUT the CD was great LATER for putting dd to sleep in the car. And, it's a nice memento to have to give to her when she's older.

first birth, but here's the list so far:

Enya
Van Morrisons "Astral Weeks"
Yoga mantra CD's

and possibly the best, most mellow CD of all time~Brian Eno's "Thursday Afternoon" ***highly recommend this one***

Thanks for the reminder of four seasons and Mazzy Star!
