Diaper bags

Okay, I'm sure this has already been discussed somewhere, at some point...

But anyway.

Last time with my dd, I had a super cheap vinyl walmart job diaper bag.

I'm just kinda looking for cool recs for a new one for this babe. We'll be cloth diapering, so I assume it'll need to be a touch bigger? I'm not sure though.

So, what do you/will you be carrying?

We're not getting one as I already have a bag I love that's just the right size, but I saw this the other day and was intrigued. It's marketed as a diaper bag for babywearers and can be quite small or expand to be pretty large.

My bag isn't from LLBean, but it looks kinda like this:

My sister had it specially made for me and it has a Steal Your Face on the side and I love it. Its not a diaper bag, per se, but it hold a lot of stuff. And I had 2 kids in cloth diapers for a year, and it had plenty of room.

LOVE my Land's End Do-it-all. Huge, very durable, very well-designed, AWESOME customer service....and super reasonable price!! Ours has lasted through 2 babies and still looks brand-new. It's plenty big for packing stuff for all three of my munchkins!

They have a smaller one, too, if you prefer.

I'm going to use a backpack type this time. I already feel like I don't have enough hands and with 2 small children I think I'll want something I can carry on my back.

I have the big Jeep bag and oh man, carrying my 18m old and it is a PAIN! I'm getting a backpack too.

I have a backpack and its a pain too! We use a stroller sometimes and it doesn't go on the handles, I'd like something that goes on the handles. That bag the Sihaya posted also doubles as a backpack, it says.

How do you wear a backpack if your babe is in a sling? I would die if I couldn't do back carries.

: I can't get her on my back...
I dunno what's wrong with us

Yep, it can be worn as a backpack, hip pack, or messenger bag. Luckily someone snatched up the used one I was eying before I spent $60 on it!

Last time I started out with (and do still use) the free formula bag from the hospital. It's just a plain black bag. Now they're big and pretty. If for some reason we do deliver in the hospital (I'm having a hard time getting MWs to call me back re: homebirth and am starting to think maybe it's a sign?) I will leave the contents of the bag in the room and take the bag- they're roomier and prettier now!

I have a couple of other bags, but none I'm too fond of. I want JJ Cole bag. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...entPage=family <--- that one, to be exact!

I just bought a chines brocade shoulder bag with front and back pockets and side water bottle pockets and used that. It has a long shoulder strap so I can wear it across my body when toddler chasing and converts into a backpack when I need it to.

Alas, it's also falling apart now and I'll have to look for something else... but honestly, I wasn't terribly impressed with the construction or the appearance of most of the diaper bags I saw at places like Target and Babies R Us... there's seriously NO reason you need a specific DIAPER bag at all. I'd look for something that's constructed like it needs to withstand the apocalypse and which you can stand to be seen with, and then pick up a separate pack of waterproof pads for changing and something to keep bottles or whatever cool.

I would steer away from "diaper bags" all together and just look for a bag that fits your needs.
There are some cute bags out there these days.

I had diaper bag with my first. I actually spent a lot of time on the Internet choosing just the right one... We gradually switched to using my old backpack from high school, and I gave the diaper bag away.

If I needed to use bottles more, I think a real diaper bag might be more useful.

With baby #1, I started with a backpack diaper bag, which was great, but it was bulky and I always wanted to stuff it under the stroller and it wouldn't fit. Finally, I switched to a basic tapestry bag with no separate pockets, but it squished down nicely and I could jam it anywhere.

I just hate carrying a diaper bag and a purse. The backpack was great because it had a built in purse with wallet compartments, etc. I'm not sure what I'll do this time. At least my daughter is now 4 and old enough that she doesn't need any stuff with her. I couldn't handle carrying around diapers and toys for 2!

I am going to use these really simple back packs that my kids got free with their school uniforms. they are really roomy and well made. I plan on trying to use one for quick trips but there will be times when I need both bags since I will be cloth diapering 3, unless I can get my twins potty trained before this one comes. They are still really young so it isn't likely though.

I 'had' to have a healthy back baby bag for ds and could never find anything in there because it had so many pockets. I just used small cheap bags for dd, but in my dreams I would get a fleurville mini-tote because I think they're so pretty.
