Protocol for VBAC or VBA2C Anyone?

Hello ladies,

I am trying to put together an informed consent regarding VBAC and VBAmultipleC as I have a client who has had 2 c/s going for her first v&hb.

I have found some great resources I am going to include in the informed consent...

kmom: http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/C...MCresearch.htm

AAFP: http://www.aafp.org/online/etc/media...lrec_tolac.pdf

*** What are your favorite concise and easy to read resources?

*** Do you have an informed consent you could cut & paste & share here?

Thanks much for your input! Paige

Informed Consent Anyone?

I don't know where to find papers like those, but I would gladly have signed something like that when planning my HBA2C. Do you have a lawyer who can help you?

For my third birth I was absolutely certain that my choice to birth at home was safer for my baby and I. On the other hand I would have gladly signed something that would have made my care provider "bullet proof" should something have happened. I had a terrible time finding a MW who was comfortable with HBAC. I ended up birthing UC, which was great, no complaints.

Hi Kiley,

I am so sorry you had a terrible time finding someone to do HBAC for you! I think I speak for most midwives in MA when I say we gladly do HBAC.

This protocol I am looking for is a little CYA but really more just plain responsible...everyone should be informed of pros and cons so they can make an informed choice. I have informed consent for GD, GBS, RH, and none of them are about you should or shouldn't they are just about infomration. I feel no need to consult with a lawyer on these things...heck, a lawyer wouldn't even know about these things...heck, a lawyer would probably advize me to get out of the birth industry because of liablity and the courts these days.

Take care, Paige
