Anyone here hs their child who has ADHD?

DS isn't officially diagnosed, but probably would meet the assessment criteria if we ever wanted him to be.

It ain't easy, but I 100% think he's better off this way than stuck in a classroom!

I have four w/Special Needs, including ADHD

My almost 15 yo was diagnosed with ADHD (finally) at the age of 12. He was in PS through the 8th grade, and it seemed the school could not cater to his individual needs, so we began HS him. His grades improved dramatically his first year of HS, and he's even looking forward to starting the 10 grade level this year.

My 12 yo will be starting the 7th grade level this year. He was PS until the starting of 5th grade. I started with him because of his kidney disease and the fact that he missed more school due to illness than he could attend.

He just had a kidney transplant December 19, 2006, and is doing very well, both physically and emotionally. He loves homeschooling!

My 5 year old twins do attend public school, simply because I cannot accomodate their special needs learning at home. They attend specialized schools outside of our school district for their diagnoses of Autism and APD (Auditory Processing Disorder). They work with Speech and Occupational Therapist there, and then we reinforce their learning and attending skills at home.

My oldest is thriving with homeschooling, and so we won't be going back to PS. We use the SOS program, unit studies, and some other eclectic lessons, as I run across them.

I have found with him that studing in 30 minute intervals with 15 minute breaks in between increases his comprehension dramactically.

Feel free to PM or email if you need any support.

Angela
