Yes SHE's here!
Rebecca Adalin... the first girl in over 70 years, 3 generations, and about 15+ 'boy cousins' (I guess 2nd cousins, my dh's cousins children). Dh' side of the family is shocked and thrilled and everyone else is just tickled pink!

I announced her gender, but I had to get them to double check because I was in disbelief... even though every one had girl vibes!

We had an amazing birth which I will write out soon and truly felt so supported by the natural birthing community, my doula, and midwife- even though we were at a hospital. Now all the stuff and fuss to go to the hospital seems quite crazy because everything would have been so much easier at our house, but I'm so thrilled that I can advocate for a hospital option locally that truly followed wishes and understood and supported us. The only glitch was we got the pedi on call that we didn't want and had been forewarned, but he gave me his guilt-trip spiel, said we'd disagree but that it was my decision, not that he understood... and that was that.... WHEW. Dh wasn't there for that eitehr and I was able to stand up even though I didn't say exactly what I had wanted to say.

So Friday 4:00 am I woke up with back pain after a day where we had a nst at the hospital to check her (she was over 40 weeks) and things had been fine, but what a pita, to figure that out (ended up doing the biophys. profile because she had a flukey decel during one random quirky contraction). I totally wish I HAD skipped that nst, but maybe the uncomfy position contributed to labor.

My poor doula had called to tell me she was at a birth that night, but to call me no matter what. So we were HOPING baby stay IN tonight. While hoping that she would come before Saturaday because they wanted me to come back for another nst.

But the back pain was not really back pain and by 4:30 I was having short contractions every 3 minutes. I did a lot of walking (and folded laundry) and dh was up early (he couldn't sleep at 3) so I wnt in to tell him this was probably it. Dropped JOsh off with friends and went to the hospital between 8 and 9 ?? to find out I was 7 cm dilated (whoot!) and had her at 11:20 am. I actually wished I had went a little earlier because being in the tub was wonderful... still hard to listen to those instincts. (Oh and our poor doula Erin had only 1 hour sleep).

My doula and midwife and the nurse and the hospital were wonderful... all natural birth, gentle birth, birth plan followed, she never left dh or my side, I nursed her within minutes of the birth, and we went home the next day just after 24 hours. I did have a 2nd degree tear where my old scar was.... but she was 8 lbs. 1 oz, to Josh's 6 lbs 6 oz, and she had her hand to the side of her head.

The only glitch was that she came so fast my son couldn't get there, he was at a story time at a nature center visiting with snakes, turtles, etc. But he got to see her before we were out of the delivery and gave her gentle hugs and kisses and has been just wonderful. And we were home the next day while he got pampered by inlaws and my mother.

Recovery is soooo much better... Yes I'm a little sore and it is hard to get up from laying down to sitting, but compared to last time I'm feeling so much better. I'm so glad we are home and I have my nursing spaces set up and am figuring everythign out here...

Nursing is pretty good, but she may be tucking her lip in or something, so I'll have to look into perfecting it a bit, but she's really great and I'm not having all the problems I had with JOsh initially.

Ok, I really gotta go, because I could go on and on and on... but we are all so happy, and even dh is falling in love all over again and I think really enjoying this time (which wasn't really how it was last time).

I'm hardly even weepy... so looking forward now!!
