1st U/S, Blood in Uterus?

Hey mamas.. I'm hoping that someone else has BTDT so I'll relax a little bit. I had my first US at 7 weeks last Friday and baby looked fine (yay!) and measured on target (6wks 5 days), the tech told me that I had some "pooled blood" at the bottom of my uterus. : She said it could be where everything just hadn't fully attached yet, and that it will usually go away during the 1st trimester, but told us no sex for 2 weeks.
I can't seem to find any info about it, and I'm trying not to freak. Anyone know anything / BTDT?

snookler, you could always try posting in the birth professionals forum under birth & beyond. It's not the highest traffic, but the women there might be able to give you some good info & reassurance.

I'm sure this is stressful! Good luck investigating and also trying to relax. I'll be thinking of you!

I had this with my last pregnancy and found it is actually quite common. Mine was actually discovered because I started spotting at 7 weeks so they brought me in for an u/s and found the pool of blood. It is GREAT that yours is near the bottom of the uterus because it is extremely unlikely to have any effect at all on the baby from there (not that it would be likely to elsewhere, but that is the best spot to have it from what I was told).

I know it's hard but try not to worry! Everything went just fine with my pregnancy after that and I have a happy and healthy little boy. Your body might just absorb the blood OR it might come out so try not to get too scared if you do start to spot or lightly bleed. Mine was on and off for a week and a half and it scared the crap out of me even after I knew what it was but all was fine.

Thanks so much for the support everyone. I've been thinking about this since last Friday and it feels so good to have people on my side.

Michelle - thankyouthankyou!! It's such a relief to know that you've been there and it's not necessarily a big deal. I've been so nervous this pregnancy for no reason at all, except that it's my second, and I know more about what's at stake.
I was thining that before these super early ultrasounds maybe it was common, and no one ever knew it was there?

Feeling a little better already.. thanks mamas!

I had a pool of blood at the upper left part of my uterus on a scan at 9 weeks, and the perinatologist said it was leftover implantation blood. He told me to expect spotting, but that never happened.

Just looking in from the July DDC.

I had this at 8 weeks, with spotting. Went on bedrest for about a week (it was supposed to be 2, but the spotting stopped and I was taking it easy). As you can see, I'm still pregnant!

I also had the same thing happen in my pregnancy with Charlotte, so while I WOULD take it easy, I wouldn't worry too much.

Good luck!
