Lets talk school clothes. - Page 2

You might want to check out the outlet area on Land's End website or the sale area for LL Bean.

Land's End has uniform school clothes. Might be what's considered pricey, but if you pass down clothes, they will hold up well.

DS doesn't have to wear uniforms. I get all of his stuff -- and I mean, ALL of it -- from Old Navy online. My list for the fall is 5 Polo shirts, 3 button-down shirts, 6 t-shirts, 1 pair of denim shorts, 1 pair of khaki shorts, 2 pairs of jeans, and 2 pairs of khakis (one light, one dark). He also will get a new pair of sneakers and a new pair of brown Doc Marten style shoes.

This is in addition to the stuff he already has for summer -- hopefully some of that will still fit and be in good shape by September. All of his fall stuff will be short-sleeved since it doesn't get cold here until mid-November. I buy his winter clothes around the end of October, and that's usually 3 sweaters, 2 sweatshirts, 5 long-sleeved Polo-style shirts, 3 long-sleeved button-down shirts, and another pair of jeans.

His clothes and shoes for each season usually cost around $200.

I spend about $200 for my oldest dd each season..
(about $75 for my youngest ,she gets good hand me downs from older sister)

I like her to have about 6 pairs of jeans for fall/winter
2 pairs of no frills boot cut jeans (i bought circo jeans from target today.. $10 a piece)
2 pairs of khakis (usually one cargo. 1 plain boot cut)
2 pairs of gymboree with cutsie stuff on them, always bought new on ebay..but from previous years lines

shirts..she ends up with probably 20 each season..maybe more
but the good thing is..she grows so slow.. that normally theres a good bit left from the year before
i stock up on plain colored long sleeve tees in several colors from old navy, about 5-6 usually $5 a piece
then a few cute t's with stripes, dots, writing or something.. old navy, target & kohls are our favorite places to shop.. I stick to less expensive shirts that hold up well by only buying the circo or Cherokee brand from target & sonoma brand from kohls

i buy a few shirts to match whatever gymboree line we bought bottoms from
& about 3 sweaters..
& about 3 "jackets" . one a thinnish sweat shirt material one. one a thin cheep fleece, 1 a thick heavy duty fleece.. but these i buy 1 size larger ..because it wont get much wear here in SC.. so i dont have to buy them every season

shoes. we love target! I like my kids to have 3-4 pairs a piece each season..
this year oldestt dd wants a pair of skechers pull on athletic.. so that'll push our shoe budget up a little..but thats ok

I dont buy "back to school clothes" though. its still hot here for a long time after school starts.so she just wears the clothes shes worn all summer.. she has alot in good shape.. as far as ive seen.. thats how everyone does it for little kids around here

My girls have school uniforms and they are EXPENSIVE. It would be much cheaper to buy their clothes at the end of the season and save them for the next year. I do like that I don't have to pick out matching outfits for them every morning and that they can't argue with me over what they wear.
