Dh and work

Thread Starter
My dh told me yesterday that he was just put on a committee at work that decides which non-profit organizations they donate money to. I said he should suggest Nocirc (someone brings up an org. and they vote). He said

"I should just say 'Let's donate to this group that fights the forced genital cutting (i can't remember if he said cutting or mutilation) of children' and everyone would be like 'OMGosh, I can't believe people still do that! Yeah, let's donate to them!'"

I lol! If only people really felt that way.

It is great that you DP is on board, DS father is far from an intactivist and probably wouldn't be able to even joke about bringing anti-circ up at his place of business.

And yes if only people really felt that way.

So few people can call it what it really is because it sounds so aweful. I really hope he can be of influence at work. :

What would be... uh, I guess the word "ironic" is what I'm looking for, is, if he said: "Let's donate to a fund that ends genital mutilation!" The co-workers immediately thinking FGM, agreeing to that. Then they get told by your DH that no-no, he means MGM! They'd probably be puzzled by it saying it's not a form of genital mutilation, and your hubby can mention the gender INequality in that way of thinking!

A pause for thought and a way to educate? I say, go for it!
