Question for Dave Ramsey Fans

I just got some birthday money, and I'm trying to decide how to spend it

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the online financial software that Dave Ramsey has on his subscription based TMMO website as well as his Financial Peace Personal Finance Program which is a one time purchase. The second option is much less expensive, but I don't know how the features of these compare. I think the program on CD is older and they're probably not updating now that they have the online one.

I haven't used his software, but we're using the TMMO book and it's getting the job done. It has all the budget forms in the back. Does one option have the "pod cast"? I frequently miss his radio show and wish I could download a few to listen to in the car. It's not in the budget though.

I actually took his forms from the books and put them in a spreadsheet. I just thought maybe this would help keep me motivated. I've fallen off the bandwagon a few times in the past The TMMO subscription does give you the ability to get all 3 hours of the show without commercials. But you can get a one hour podcast with commercials for free. Or you can listen to all 3 hours with commercials on your computer for free.

This won't fit in the budget for me either, but I thought maybe I could justify using the birthday money if people thought it was good. Now I'm finding out about other software that uses envelope based budgeting after doing a search. This one is free. Maybe I'll try it instead.

I wonder if it would be worth it to use my birthday money for Financial Peace University instead? Any thoughts on that from people who've gone through it?

I've read Dave's books and like the advice, but can't see spending more for extra products. I track my expenses in a notebook- easily accessible at any time. I'm just not into tracking my expenses on the computer.

I also can't justify spending $$ on software - I do mine with a very basic Excel spreadsheet.

Check out the Living Like No One Else boards for great motivation to stick to the plan! www.llnoe.com I love them. I also download the 1 hr podcasts, burn them to CD's, and listen to them in my car. Helps keep me on budget!
