We trade friends for babysitting services so we can have a night out/off without paying a sitter $$$. Added bonus is that kids get two built in playdates.

We also do a lot of what has been mentioned and it helps a lot.

We buy dry spices at the restaurant supply store. Lasts for a LONG time. Nice to have fresh but dried can be used for soups etc and is A LOT cheaper if we don't grow it.

Getting together with friends at home rather than making plans that involve $$.

I get my hair cut at a local beauty college. It's $14, which is great for around here (I have a friend in the midwest that pays $8, though). And, it's a great beauty school, so I have a cute, hip haircut to boot.

I try to combine trips and plan trips out to prevent backtracking and using extra gas. For example, my MOPs group meets near Trader Joes and a great Goodwill. I go to TJ and GW on MOPs days only, in order to prevent an extra trip.

I frequently reevaluate our consumption. Just because we felt like we needed the $10 blockbuster subscription 3 months ago, do we still desire it now? (for us, the answer was yes) But, it never hurts to get that voice in your head rethinking things.
