coupons

Are coupons in the newspaper an American thing?? I'm in Canada (Ontario) and I have NEVER seen a single coupon in my newspaper, flyers/circulars, or anything like that. About once a month one of the inserts is a clip-and-save that has all kinds of coupons or mail-order ads or as-seen-on-TV ads for things like 25% off eyeglasses, or a Swiffer wet jet etc, very very little in the way of grocery items. I do check out save.ca once in awhile for free coupons (they mail them to you) but again there are only every two or three things that I actually buy anyway. Where do you all find these amazing food item coupons??

We have them in our Sunday newspaper, but they aren't ever for foods you'd probably want to buy. It's all processed, packaged, preservative-laden, artificial everything foods that are so incredibly unhealthy. They don't have coupons for any "amazing" healthy food items, unfortunately. Even with a coupon, they can't entice me to buy that crap. I recycle the coupons along with the rest of the shiny inserts.

Actually, I'm not opposed to eating crap. I try not to but I don't ban it from my house (or shopping cart). Crap like canned sauces, processed cheese slices, etc. I don't buy chips and pop and twinkies etc though.

It just seems like everyone's talking about coupons and I never see any. I thought maybe I was missing out on something.

mostly internet is where i get coupons. you sometimes have to email the company and ask them to mail u coupons. look at the food item in your house and chances are there is a website addy somewhere on there. just look on the sites for coupons and it you don't see any than contact them by phone or email to request the coupons.
