I have been thinking about my u/s tomorrow. I haven't really wanted to find out what we are having but recently I have been wondering if maybe I should. I have felt so detached from the baby and I wonder if finding out whether it is a girl or a boy will help. Maybe calling the baby by it's name will help. I know it will help us to know because we can plan better and get the things we need. Since we are on such a tight budget it would help to know what we need to buy. My husband wants to know but whatever I decide he is behind me. What do all of you think?

I understand reasons for both wanting and not wanting to know - but ultimately it is a wonderful and exciting surprise no matter when you find out. I personally appreciate knowing. Some people argue that finding out the sex somehow ruins the surprise or lessens the magic of the birth or takes away from "the experience" but I did not feel this way whatsoever.

Fun! DD was a surprise but I am leaning towards finding out with this one. My sisters (who always find out) say its like having two birthdays for the baby! It's like they're born twice in a way. We'll look forward to your post tomorrow!!!

It's a.........I wish we knew!!! : Our baby has it's own plans about us finding out. I feel alot better though. after seeing the baby and watching it on the monitor for so long, I feel more at ease and more attached. I doubt I will have another u/s so we probably won't find out and I am ok with that. I just kept laughing after the u/s. I agonized over whether to find out and then I couldn't find out anyways. : I am just glad that the baby seems more real now. It was opening and closing its mouth and stretching out its legs.

That's what happened with my dd! I had an u/s at 16 weeks and they couldn't tell. Then I had one at 30 weeks to check on my placenta and they STILL couldn't tell me. Glad the u/s went well and that you feel more attached.
