DTaP side effects for adults?

DH had his annual exams last week and his dr suggested a booster for tetanus. They only had the combo DTap shot. DH had been skeptical about my concerns for the shots but has went along with my decision regarding the girls' vaccines. DD#1 had a few shots and actually (I think) came down with whooping cough after the DTap shots. DD#2 has had no vaccs. Well, that was Tuesday. For the last 2-3 days he's had flu like symptoms and diahrrea.

DH thinks he might have caught some bug at the dr's office. What are your thoughts? And is he "contagious"? A mom I know whose son has some kind of immune deficiency said she's careful not to expose her son to people newly vaccinated (within 2 weeks). DH kept saying these are dead bugs they vaccinated him with. Thoughts?

I think he caught something at the Dr's office.

Chicken pox and MMR vaxes are the ones that "shed".

The Dtap is a killed virus vaccine ~ so it is not a vaccine that sheds nor would it be likely (possible) that he 'caught' pertussis or anything else from the vaccine. However what he could be experiencing is a reaction to the vaccine. DTap is a very reactive vaccine so it is HIGHLY likely he is experiencing a reaction to the vaccine itself. Find out what shot he got and look up the insert on the internet. I am certain that you can find the listed reactions there ~ and perhaps they will ring true with what your DH is experiencing.

most likely, the assault to his immune system compromised the beneficial bacteria in his gut, and he would do well to take some probiotics, vitamin C, and to read up on tetanus so he isn't scared into getting the shot again in another 4 yrs.
