Anyone both a chiropractor and a midwife?

Hi,
I'm currently a chiropractor that specializes in working with pregnant women and children, and I'm very interested in somehow combining chiropractic and midwifery. I realize that it will be a long road (especially since I'm currently pregnant and will be unable to do much of the midwifery training for awhile yet), but I'm looking to chat with others who have traveled it or are considering a similar path.

I have always felt very called to birth, when I took EMT training in college, my absolute favorite class was on baby deliveries, and considered becoming a CNM at that point, but it was a bit too medical of a route for me, even at the time. I discovered chiropractic a few years later, and have happily been a practicing chiropractor now for 7 years. However, I still feel the pull of childbirth, and pregnant women are my absolute favorite clients to work with.

I realize that in some ways, chiropractic and midwifery go hand in hand, but logistically, I think there are some issues - you simply can't be on call for the weeks surrounding a birth and try to have a regular client schedule for adjustments as well. I think the only way it would work in the long run is to find another DC and another Midwife to work with (or perhaps have the other DC also be the other Midwife). I've been talking to some of my local midwives trying to get some feedback, but I'm interested in seeing if there is anyone out there who has actually taken this path. If so, I'd love to connect!

Thanks,
Mindi

so I haven't met a chiro-midwife yet- but I have met chiropractors who have gone to births/attended births depends on what school they went to and what state they lived in- In Washington naturopaths if they do births also become a LM in the state of Washington or else they qualify for CPM and I have met several of that combo--
I use to work with a British trained Brazilian midwife and in her practice she had many Mexican women come- well the grandmas expected more from a midwife than just measure the belly and bp... and taught her to do massage and manipulation for birth prep and postpartum- I know not exactly chiro but related- I think that body work and midwifery are a great combo
