Do My Housing Issues Ever End? LOL

Seriously. It's one thing after another. If anyone remembers we thought we were going to move to a 3 bedroom house but then found out the military won't pay for it so we've decided to stay in our 2 bedroom. Fine, we made our peace with it. We are selling Jake's old crib since we have no where to put it, got a nice pack n play to put beside our bed, and have done a lot of moving things around to make room for baby.

Now the newest adventure: My dh gets out of the military May 08. He has about 2 mos of leave so he'll take that and will be on "terminal leave" in Mar 08. When you go on terminal leave you are basically completely signed out. You do all your paperwork and everything is signed off and you are allowed to move away, etc. So we figured we'd be moving in Mar 08...probably across the US to Florida...the military pays for this move btw. Well guess what we just found out?? They are BULLDOZING our house Feb 1st!! So they want to move us to another house on base at the very end of January (this one is paid for btw because it's a forced move and not a voluntary move). So now we get to move, and then 2 months later move again : It's great that they are both paid for but I can't imagine what effect it will have on the kids you know?

We're hoping that maybe they'll let us do our across country move early...dh can settle us all in...and then he can come back to the base and live in the dorms until he separates and can join us.

This house stuff is just so silly though. ~sigh~

Will they let you move across country without orders? I should say your stuff, not you. I can't remember. It's been over 2 years since my husband got out.

That is going to be a pain either way. I hope you at least don't have to go through inspection with the house you are vacating. We ended up being very transient before we finally settled down and my little boy (5-11 months at the time) handled it fine. Most of our stuff was in storage during that time.

I will put up a HUGE fight if they want to do the whole inspection thing! What would the point be if they are just going to tear it down? We just got privatized July 1st and they seem to have more common sense than the gov't so hopefully that will work in our favor.

I'm not sure if they'll let us move early. That's what we are hoping for. Dh would actually have to have some sort of motivation to go and talk to these people for that to happen though : Can you tell he's driving me crazy? lol.

ETA: I should add that I'm not that worried about the baby...they'll be about 8 mos old at the time but I am worried about all of this affecting my ds who will be just under 4 yrs old at that time. He doesn't do well with new environments and big change.
