Who has solar?

We are considering adding solar to a new extension to our house, and the solar company said there is a limit of 12,750/KWh on a residence. We currently are using 51,000KWh a year (I know, a lot, my dh works from home and has quite a few computers). I dont know if it is worth it for us to get solar, bc it will only cut down our bill about 25%.

Can you tell me what you think about your solar, how much it cut your bill down, how much it was initially, etc? Thanks in advance

: I've been toying with the same idea.

We just installed it, so I don't have savings numbers yet. It was around $20,000, which is what it seems to cost for everyone here in Southern California. Ours was added onto an addition being built, so I don't know if the price would change for better or for worse if you were putting it on an existing roof. We'll get local, state and federal tax rebates equaling about $8,000.

Living in L.A., we expect to see quite a reduction in our electric bill, because we are in the perfect location for it. Good luck in your decision.

Thanks! We actually will be putting it onto an extension as well. I am doing a conference call today with dh and the solar engineer to see if its worth it.
