How much does your 3 year old sleep?

My dd seems to be sleeping less and less. She gets about 10.5 hrs, and I think 12 is "enough".

Any ideas?

My dd sleeps roughly 11 hours a night. On a really good night I may get 11.5-12 hours, this happens about twice a week. No naps during the day, sadly, so 11 hours total sleep per day. She does fall asleep in the car usually if we're driving past 4pm or so, but then she's wound at bedtime.

About 11.5 hours. Sometimes less, but that's usually due to me not getting her to bed on time. No naps, of course. Bah.

What time do you put her to bed, Els?

Not enough! :-)

Usually 10 hours at night, sometimes 9.

She naps about every 3rd or 4rth day for 3 hours.....but often, just skips nap.

Fiona used to be SUCH a great sleeper.....but at 3.5, there is just too many things to do to waste time on sleeping I guess.

The lentil gets about 10 hours at night, then another 1.5- 2 during his nap. Not enough. I believe sleep begets sleep, so I will do what I can to get him down earlier in the evening and get him to take longer naps. I notice when he takes longer naps and sleeps more, he sleeps in later in the mornings and is generally more pleasant to be around. The flip side to that is that he is also apt to wake up earlier if we put him down too early, so it's a gamble.

I agree with mamameg- what is the bedtime? can that change?

10-11 hours per day. No naps. :

Eleanor gets between 11 and 12 with a 1-2 hour "quiet time" in the middle of the day (sometimes sleeps/sometimes not). She goes to bed around 8 or so, but it's been bad recently and she has pushed us to our limits a few nights (and consequently not been asleep before 10 pm). I'd agree that sleep begets sleep. As does crazy running around play as long as it ends about an hour before bedtime.

Our schedule changes so much through the year that I never feel in balance. During the school year the girls will be up at 5:45am or so and go to bed by 7:00, but now it's light so late that it keeps them awake and they both seem to sleep naturally until 8:00 or later. I just let it fluctuate because I don't think it's fair or possible to work on changing it.

12 hours straight. No naps.

I am thanking providence for my son's sleep habits on a daily basis... at two months shy of 3, he sleeps from 8:30 PM to 6:30 AM - 8 AM, depending on the day. He also takes a 1.5 to 3 (!!!) hour nap when he's at home -- shorter naps at day care.

When he is going through a growth spurt, or his energy reserves are down, he might nap even longer.

I hope he never outgrows nap time!

we have a bad schedule right now. Sawyer goes to bed at about 11pm and wakes up at 7:30 or 8. We are having a hard time keeping him from late afternoon naps to get him to bed earlier. New baby coming any minute, not sure how it's going to work out!:

Hey, els-
G sleeps between 10-11 hours at night with a usually 2 hour nap. We do get an occasional 12 hour night, however, as well as a shorter nap (1 - 1.5 hrs.)

I agree with emmalola...we've noticed that the more sleep he gets, the longer he sleeps. We try to get him in bed by 8 p.m., though that's been tough this summer. He'll usually sleep till 6:30 or 7 a.m. and nap from 1ish to 3ish.

I'm really hoping he keeps his nap when the new babe arrives!

Annika sleeps about 10 1/2 hours at night w/a 2 hour nap if we're at home. She'll fall asleep in the car if we're out and about, but doesn't sleep for 2 hours unless there's that much road time. Days when grandma is the babysitter, no naps. Bear!!
