Is every conversation now about your belly?

Are you experiencing this too? It has suddenly become very acute. At work, everybody's eyes zoom in on my belly, and every single conversation is about when I'm due. All elevator small talk, all greetings of any kind, all comments from people on the street, all pleasantries exchanged with cashiers have to do with my belly. It's almost comical. I just smile at someone and try to guess exactly how they are going to bring it up. And they always do.

It's been that way for me for a long time. Since my belly is SO big according to everyone I meet, I get comments all the time. I'm pretty used to it now. Still hate it when someone asks if I'm expecting twins though.

I think it makes some people nervous and others -- esp. mamas -- remember when. But, yes. Every small talk conversation in person starts with a comment about my belly or the baby and over the phone they start with a question about whether I have had the baby.

Me too, I guess I kind of get a kick out of it. This wasn't my experience last time around so I'm enjoying it.

Me too, especially because this time I'm alll belly. So if someone doesn't notice my belly right away (like I'm sitting at a table in a restaurant or something) then they see it, they are surprised and start asking questions and telling stories. I like it, though.

At work all the conversations seem to revolve around my waddle. Hello! I'm 5'2" and have a head in my booty. You'd waddle too!

I've started avoiding eye contact with strangers, actually, because if I am the least bit approachable, the most random strangers in the most random public places will ask, "so, when are you due?" and then will start chatting me up about being pregnant. It was fun for a while but I am getting tired of "The Belly" being the topic of every conversation!

Yeah, I am going to put a piece of midelivered mail in the complex mailbox instead of walking it over like I would do if I were not 36 weeks pregnant. Just don't want to open the door for another belly convo.!
