I need some help here from those mamas who had babies after infertility and went on to have more. My dh & I spent 6 years to achieve a successful pregancy (we got twins!) I had a m/c in May '98. We want more kids but the thought of another one so soon after the boys is a little overwhelming yet we don't want to wait in case we have similar problems. We're not sure what worked in our case anyway: 1. my dh had suregery for varicoceles (on both sides!) in July '01 2. I went on the pill for three months before trying (I got pregnant the month after I stopped taking the pill) 3. I was taking Cloimd (100mg/day cd 5-9) So we really aren't sure what worked and we have been trying for the last 2 months but because I'm bf I still haven't had AF and am not sure if I'm even ovulating yet (my boys are 6 months old). Just wondering if any of you have any suggestions or BTDT stories on how long it took or if you had to go through mediacal means to achieve a second pregnancy. Oh yeah, they never really diagnosed any problems with me & the only thing with dh was the varicoceles. Thanks!

We are just starting TTC after infertility.
Our plan is this: we are ttc on our own for 6 months, then we go back to the RE and we are planning to do 2 cycles of injections and if those fail, some IVF rounds.
If all fails, we will consider adoption.
We have unexplained infertility. On injections, I produced 7 eggs and got 1 baby. Those aren't great odds when the doc was worried about quads.
I'll let you know how we are doing....

BTDT response
We have twins DSDD8 (naturally conceived, no fert meds), and my DH had a SEVERE varicocele many many yrs ago (had surgery). We avoided conceiving while the twins were young, because our twins had medical issues from severe prematurity....I LOVE RAISING twins, but after seeing two very premature babies struggle in NICU for 7 wks, and then issues for yrs, just couldn't ttc until past all that. Little did I realize that my twin pg & a mc that same yr, we already had probably a sign that I had some fertiltiy issues brewing....was starting to show signs of aging. Almost comical that everyone was worried I would have twins again if I had more children (we don't tell anyone we are ttc)
In hindsight, I should of tried at least a few yrs earlier than I did.
This sentence is to anyone who thinks they can forsee (that is what I did) that they will be able to have children in their late 30's or early 40's, no problem. Unless you have a crystal ball, you never know as far as fertility, where yours will be. EVERYONE's clock is different. Our "eggs" all age differently. I have known personally many women to have babies in their forties, and I also now know mamy women in their mid to late 30's and early 40's that, their own time clock has moved a bit fast forward, and can't seem to concieve (or mc in 1st tri) I start ttc at 39, now I'm 41. My fsh is highish, and I've had 2 mc's in past 2 yrs, AND my DH has low motility.
My situation sounds a little different, but I guess you would have to ask yourself, would you be able to give all your 3 babies (are the twins still babies?) enough emotional & physical attention that they would need??? Only you can answer that question......
So I guess what I am saying is, maybe look at the whole picture......age and your current situation with your twins......listen to your heart, with a clear mind : )
Wishing you peace in whatever you decide

I wish someone would of sat me down 5 yrs ago, and gave me the "old eggs talk", I think my DH and I would of ttc much earlier than we did.
