does obama barrack believe in parents right to circumcise ?

I'm trying to figure out which official believes or not believes in having a parent right to circumcised and I'm somewhat like barrack but I'm just in hopes that he doesn't believe in it but I dunno.

I want a president to be willing to pass the MGM bill so no more decisions can be made by ignorant doctors & uninformed parents .

I don't know, but I'm wondering about Ron Paul. I read the other day that he's an obstetrician. I wonder if he's performed them. :

No presidential candidate will ever come out with anything like that. A democrat in particular will stick to the 'PC' response that it wouldn't be sensitive culturally to certain groups. Honestly it's the same in Europe where it is uncommon.

Barack's mother is from the midwest and his father is from Kenya, both high-circ areas of the world. I'm betting he is circ'd and thinks nothing is wrong with it.

I doubt there are any politicians that would say they were opposed to circumcision. The people who are adamently against it are far fewer in numbers than pro-circers or the people who just don't care here in America.

This isn't an issue we are going to get politicians on our side about until we get alot more general public behind us.

I think this fight is better fought in the medical schools and parenting guides till there is a fundumental shift in thinking. Then we may get the politicians to come around.

He's all about the rights of the individuals as long as they don't infringe on someone else's rights... and he *did* do a sliding scale fee for mamas on medicare rather than take taxpayer money while he was an OB. So he would at the very least be against the government paying for circumcisions. The logical conclusion (IMO) of the rights of the individuals being all-important should be that the right of the baby to keep an intact body totally trumps the "right" of the parent to force cosmetic surgery on someone without his consent.

I would very much like to know his stance though... he's my favourite candidate. He's all about bucking the party line and is very about small federal government and against meddling in other countries' business. Very libertarian which is what I am

love and peace.

ITA that this is not a fight for the political realm. As long as people from major world religions circumcise, that's not a fight we're going to win.

And FYI, his name is Barak Obama.

I didn't even notice that until your response, too funny!

Anyway, god how I only could hope this were something candidates were even willing to discuss. I doubt this will happen in the near future. It is a good question though. Hopefully before the primaries someone can find a way to get this question in to the candidates.

I can let all of you know what kind of response, if any, I get from the parties that I have copied on the letter I wrote to the hospital administration where my son's foreskin was forcibly retracted (deep breath) on 7/11/07 (as I'm sure you all remember)....I added the presidential candidates to my VERY LONG list....I'm hoping to strike up more public awareness ... and touched on the very closely related topic of circ'ing:
this can also serve as a contact resource list for anyone needing a running count (aside from the locals in PA unless applicable)...and if anyone has any others I haven't cc'd... please let me know.. I'm in between MDC and printing envelopes right now...

wow, so he saw the recent few women who have been over 62 having babies? ( sorry..medicare is for old people hehe. not tying to insult you, i just found it funny :P )

it would be very nice to know this as an issue but of course you arent going to see THAT being a political campaigns point..its not split close to down the middle like environmental stuff, and even abortion...its one of those things most people either dont care or WANT it done, so omg, there are psycho people who WANT that nasty little flap to stay there? sort of thinking...theyre so few and far between to be anti-circ, no politician will touch it im almost 100 positive of that!!

LOL, ok, I had to laugh too, but to clarify also, Medicare isn't just for old people, my boyfriend is on disability and has Medicare, I thought the same thing though until I met him.

I have a friend who's two years older than I am (I'm 24) who is on Medicare also She's on disability as well. I get all those programs mixed up. So would it be Medicaid?

love and peace.

It can be both medcaid and medicare when your on disability and if you on just the income one you will only be eligible for medicare . I'm on both medcaid and medicare along with disability. Oh yeah my son is on medcaid and he's soon to be 3 .

Not that it says anything about whether Barack Obama is for or against circumcision, but his father's tribe, the Luo, generally do not circumcise.
Yes, that is true-- I read an article on the Luo tribe resistance to the call for circumcision to fight HIV in africa. They have a different coming of age ceremony (I think it was removal of teeth?) I'll see if I can find it.

Hillary is involved with *TOSTAN. She abhores when someeone takes a knife to the genitals of a girl....not too sure where she stands on the rights of boys. She was a lawyer, & you'd think they would know alot about double-standards and the law. But I'll bet she thinks Genital Integrity is a pink word, & not a blue one. I wrote to her to ask her what her thoughts are on male genital cutting, but I doubt I'll hear back from her. :
