...is my new nickname at another board, because I've started a thread or two about circumcision, and responded with intactivist info when people posted stuff about the AIDS studies.

It's amazing how defensive guys can get about the topic. This is a particularly aggressive board...lots of swearing, teasing, etc., which I'm fine with (and actually enjoy). But dang...rather than approach the topic with an open mind, a bunch of them have branded me as a freak, saying that I'm "obsessed with foreskin," as though it's my personal fetish. I try to just ignore it but it does make me feel icky. I try to just look at them with compassion...I figure the ones who are throwing the most stones are the ones who are the most upset about what was done to them.

I might just embrace the above nickname, actually. Anything to get people thinking and talking about the topic.

Anyone else get harassed for intactivism on other boards?

It's not an obsession or a fetish to prefer sexual parts the way nature intended them to be. The ones with the unnatural obsession are the ones that can't deal with a normal set of genitals and have to cut parts of them off to find them attractive.

I remember having this conversation with a well known circumfanatic and I had to point out that finding whole genitals of the opposite sex attractive is ENTIRELY natural, and how things are supposed to be. It's not possible to have a sexual fetish about normal genitals, because it's, well, normal.

On the other hand, not being able to find normal body parts attractive is unnatural, and I'd say that having to cut parts of them off and having to have a denuded penis in a partner would be the ones with the fetish.

The conversation kind of dried up after that. *sigh*.

The thing is, they just can't argue with that, having a foreskin is the default setting. After all, it isn't YOU that has to rearrange someone else's body in order to find it attractive.

True. And I was psyched when a European guy chimed in to say that he hasn't gotten any complaints about his normal penis.

But to me, making it all about what I'm supposedly attracted to is complete deflection. I haven't said a word about preferring intact penises- in fact, I've never been with an intact guy. It's about abusing and mutilating babies. Making it into "haha, Katie LOVES that foreskin!" is a crude tactic to embarass and humiliate me, and deflect attention away from the real issue. Childish to say the least.

My DH told me he's going to start comparing things to circ'ing and inactivism becasuse it get through to me

Sorry about the sheeple on your other board - I got hit hard the same way about a month ago and still haven't gone back yet. Just concentrate on the one (or two, or three) that you may have gotten through to. It's the only way to keep you fighting!
