Should I push my DS (3.5 years) to get changed?

My DS is not potty trained yet, which while I would really really like him to be, am trying not to pressure him and let him decide when he is ready. What is driving me crazy at the moment is that he will sometimes (once a day or so) refuse to have his pullup changed. Should I force him to get a change? Or just not worry about it? He often has a very very red bum when I do change him from having poop on his bum for a while.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

i generaly hate to force dd to do anything, but poop can't be good for little bums. maybe you could distract him somehow. i do this when dd doesn't want to get dressed and we are running late. i will begin getting her dressed while taliking about something i know she loves. by the time we are done she doesn't even realize she is dressed. good luck!
