i *am* looking at a couple of auctions on ebay, but it is for a book i need to replace for a friend who loaned us hers. i refuse to give it back to her in the condition it is in now. if things go well though, it should be anywhere from 4.80 -5.50 total including shipping. that is better than the price i've been offered so far here on mdc i am definately not gonna spend over 6 bucks on it.

Aug 1: A-OK
Aug 2: erm. Not so much. I bought some shirts for me, they were just plain & on sale so I guess that isn't so bad. An ironing board cover b/c the old one doesn't work so well and I iron a lot (for sewing). BUT I bought a total unnecessary. . .two outfits for the baby Trust me he has enough clothes. OH well. Tomorrow is another day.

Aug. 2~.46 + $11.50

I did end up getting a coffee today, but I had a gift card that covered everything but .46 I thought I had enough on the card. Guess not. I ended up going to the farmer's market and spending $11.50 on some much needed veggies. I got quite a bit of stuff for that price to justify me spending $. I got gypsy sweet peppers, green peppers, zuccini, roma tomatoes, grean beans, 2 heads of broccoli, and a few heads of garlic.

Aug 1: (just groceries)

I am going crazy babysitting. I don't care that it's extra money. I had an extra kid this week, which is 4 extra kids plus they were putting windows in the apartment all week (just finished this afternoon; didn't do them all in one day but drug it out, grrr!). The money I make is NOT worth it!! I would rather tighten our belts, especially since most of the extra money is replacing broken things and buying extra groceries. The excess is going towards a nice vacation (ok, nice when you're on the cheap; aka a provincial homeschool camping trip).

I do have a few things I'd like to buy, mostly under the category of homeschooling. I have been restraining myself from buying DD more gifts for her birthday. She doesn't need a lot. I will splurge and buy pizzas for her party but it will be under $25 for 3- 18 inch (and save me the craziness of having to make everything while babysitting, which probably would cost about the same in the end anyway).

Well in short, I'm tempted big time but I'm trying hard to resist!!

It's not your fault if DH forgot lunch. I wouldn't track that as bad spending b/c you can't control it. Most of us are just keeping track of what we spend personally. mama!

I will be buying DH a birthday gift soon. I budgeted $100, but should spend less. I have a couple gift cards that I will put toward it.

Why is it that the exact time I decide to try no spend/less spend that I find a ton of clothes that I love! I have such a hard time finding clothes that I like and that fit properly, so of course two of my favorite stores have their summer stuff on sale and are getting their new fall stuff. Oh well, if they're not there next month then I just won't get them!

Love to Join!

Hi all Hoping I can join in and get some strength from all you wonderful non-spenders

1. Please introduce yourself and tell us anything you think it would help us to know about yourself. I am a wohm with a crazy busy schedule. I work days and DH works nights... I have 2 great kiddos, B is 8 and A is nearly 4.

2. Please tell us why you have decided to spend nothing (or spend significantly less) for the Month of August. Memorize these goals and recite them to yourself before all purchases. We are trying to maintain our EF and pay down the first of our 2 car loans. We are working on my van first which has a balance just over $12K. Then we will start on the 2nd vehicle. Also trying to keep spending in check in general

3. No spending is hard work. You need a plan. Please tell us your game plan -- how do you plan to approach no spending for a month?Let's see... minimizing grocery trips, avoid eating out, pack lunches, and track all spending.

Aug 2: $1.40 on bagel @ work
