Only spent $2.75 today on the bus to go to work and earn money! I earned $70!! Most of that WILL go on to a bill/debt in the next day or so. Some will go on cat litter that I so desparately need!

August 19th: $60 for 4 year photos. This was budgeted but for much less. Dang my kids are cute, couldn't resist . $30 for Dh's birthday lunch, budgeted in our eating out. Groceries $75, budgeted.

We had a no spend weekend! I dropped $24 at the chiropractor, but that's in our normal budget and I desperately needed an adjustment. We were tempted to stop at Costco on our way home from work, but DH and I both agreed we didn't really need anything. Came home and grilled instead and had a relaxing afternoon.

RuthieGirl, what's the icon on the 18th for?
Last night we spent $15 on renting movies and buying snacks. I know we could have done better - renting fewer movies and I should have made a snack.

We bought a washing machine and dryer. Our dryer has been gone for a while and the washing machine has been limping along this summer. It finally died (and it is really gone, no way of repairing it).

I am thrilled since these are things we have been needing for a long time, but it did kind of stink to spend so much money during a focused, no-spend month.

Thanks for asking.

I am working today til 7:30, and after that, I just want to go home. The last place I want to go is to the store. This thumb will stick! I've been doing pretty good if I may say so myself. I think Wed will be a spend day though- we ran out of laundry detergent so I might pick some up then or later on in the week.

I think I am going to base my no spend challenge on frivolous items and personal things- like manicures and my monthly Bunko game, getting fastfood or icecream when DH is at work and I have to eat by myself, going to BestBuy or Circuit City to by a DVD. The other stuff- gas, groceries, laundry detergent are necessities.

8/13 $10 groceries (DH purchased)
8/14

8/17 $130 hotel, $50 dinner :
8/18 $130 hotel, $40 breakfast :
8/19 $75 lunch w/ILs : $5 used winter clothes for DS (5 namebrand items at hospice thrift store sale)

OK. We blew it this weekend. We had planned to meet the other ILs in Tahoe and spend Sat nite camping. We had a great camping site reserved. On Fri we decided to go a day early so we wouldn't have to drive up Sat am. That was fine and fun. We stayed in a funky old hotel with lots of character while ILs were at an expensive lakeside place. So Sat am we checked out of our hotel and went to hang out with ILs until we could check into our campground at 3pm. We were sitting by their pool when we noticed a lot of smoke. There was a wildfire 10 miles away -- where our campground was! It continued to burn until early evening. We couldn't camp. Too smoky and possibly dangerous. So we went back to the same hotel. ILs treated us to a fabulous dinner on Sat. We treated them to less expensive, though still expensive, lunch on Sun. Everything in Tahoe is expensive! Only frugal thing was thrift shop.

I would just like to pat myself on the back. My biggest weakness is going online or to BestBuy or Circuit City and buying a DVD tv show season set. Seriously, as soon as the DVD wuold come out on that Tuesday I would be buying it. I have a wishlist of about 10 Dvds I want that have come out since May til Sept. Guess what? I have not bought ONE single one on my list.

This is a huge deal for me. The last time I bought a DVD was in the beginning of MArch.

Okay, I'm hunkering down for some serious no-spendage for the next nine days. I'm aiming for nine straight days of thumbs.

The reason is that I want to get #3 on my list.

And our bank account is empty.

That should make it easy, right?

I no longer have a credit card.

I'm going to the mattresses (any Godfather fans here?)...
