We recently found an in-home Montessori preschool for my son to attend (3 hours 2-3 days a week). He is very spirited, and always asking to do everything himself.. so Montessori seems perfect for him. Well we went today to meet the Directress, and my son was a wild man! She said he was the "busiest" of the students she has met so far. I mean the guy was running from bookcase to bookcase like a tornado (even knocked over her beautiful pink tower with one of the larger rods he was using as a gun
). I left feeling anxious that due to behavior he wouldn't be accepted, especially since we have such a short time until school starts (August 6th). I really want to get him used to the idea of using one thing at a time.. putting it back in its place.. general self-control stuff. And I guess I'm just feeling really overwhelmed with the time crunch and all the other things we have going on (I'm attending a university full time this fall and we are in the midst of moving to on-campus housing). He seems cognitively ready, and she did offer some tips on getting him started (mat work etc). I guess I'm just hoping for some words of wisdom to assist him during this transition
How did you help your HN children adjust to a Montessori environment?
