Do you do this also?

I have recently discovered that if I scoop up my daughter from her bed at about 11 pm (just before I go to sleep) and hold her over the toilet, she will pee. This prevents bed-wetting or the need for a pull up. It's amazing that she doesn't wake up, open her eyes, or say a word, but when her tushie is hanging over the toilet, she is aware enough to pee! I know other people must take their sleeping children into the bathroom like this. My 6 year old son coined the phrase "Sleepy Pee-pees" to describe it. Cute, huh? So, do you do sleepy pee-pees in your family, too?

I did with my older girl, but she started to fight when she got bigger. So you aren't the only one.

Yes, we do a pick-up every night. It is funny, he's completely leaning against me falling back asleep on the toilet but if I just wait 5 seconds, the pee-pee comes every time.

Without it, he stays dry all night about 80% of the time at this point (4 years old). But I'd rather not take the risk of having a wet bed in the middle of the night.

We've been doing it since he was 2, it's saved me washing so many diapers

Same here, for both!
My daughter turned 3 in March.

I remember my mom doing this with my younger brother. He would sleep so soundly that if she didn't do this, he'd wet the bed more times than not. I think by 3rd grade she finally stopped doing this. She might have been able to stop sooner, but she wasn't going to take the chance until then.

I don't but I know my SIL and another friend who both did this with their ds's. Unfortunately, it never helped with the bed wetting. They would still wake up soaking wet. I'm glad to hear that it works for some people

My little girl turned four in April and we have at 10:00 tinkle time every night before I go to bed. We haven't had a wet bed since I started!

We did that with Asha, except we sat her on the toilet. She woke up just a bit to open her eyes but usually slept while on the toilet & she never remembered us taking her.

She was extremely constipated & this was the only way she'd poop without fighting it.

She was about 2.5 when we started it. We stopped when she was going poop on her own more.

Oh, I missed the part where you aren't actually sitting your little ones on the toilet!

I'm also (sort of) waking my little girl up and sitting her down on the toilet!

yes, we've done this with all of our kids, still do it without our 3.5 year old. The other two have learned to wake up and go. We've had *so far* very, very bedwetting accidents.

I don't have the source on hand, but I remember reading in some potty-training book that this actually prolongs the bed wetting period because it teaches kids to pee in their sleep. I don't know how true that is.

IMO/E it is false. IF the kid is continuing to pee in their sleep there is something else going on.
