She's beautiful (but of course I'm bias) and I promise to have pics up soon. She's a little jaundiced so we have to go back to the doc tomorrow. Breastfeeding isn't going as great as I would like. My nipples are cracked and sore. I've talked to a lactation consultant and her latch is good??? I'm going to a different one tomorrow, and hope to get some better info.

My nipples were SOOO sore this time (and he is my 3rd!). I even told dh lots of times that I could see why some women give up... it was not easy to get through.
Of course now he is a pro and there is no soreness.
I just kept the lanolin on at all times!
And I tried to not tense up.

Remember, she has never ever nursed before and you have never nursed her before. It will take a while for everyone to get the hang of it- and that's okay.

Sorry to hear about the rough start nursing! It WILL get better. A LC at my hospital recommended putting tea bags on my nipples when they were sore. We steeped them in nice and warm water, wrung them out a little and put them on with a breast pad. Don't ask me why, but it really worked! I did that a few times and also used lanolin for a few days. Hope you get some help from the new LC>
