ready for kindergarten? - Page 2

Thanks for this list!

Tying shoes independently She doesn't do this and usually wears velcro/slip-on here they prefer the kids NOT have shoes that need tying, they preer they have the elastic or velcro ones
Using the restroom independently Yes
Writing name in upper and lower case (Amy not AMY) Yes first name only.
Reciting address (house number, street, city, state) Not yet but she knows city and street name. they teach the K kids this through the year & majority of them know it by the end of K
Reciting phone number (including area code) not yetagain here this is taught in K & most kids know it by the end of K though there was 1 girl in my older dd's Grade 3 class who just learned her phone number halfway through Grade 3.
Reciting birthday (month &day) knows it but has to be reminded.here they teach the kids this at the beginning of the year if they don't already know it
Distinguishing left from right Yes
Scissors and cutting skills can cut but holds them wrongthey'll show her how to hold it correctly
Coloring skills yes
Book handling skills yes

My DD also has trouble holding her pencil correctly. She writes while holding a pencil in her fist. I try to show her how to hold it right and then she will write really light and barely touches the paper. She just doesn't understand yet.My dd who just finished K was like this too, the teachers were not concerned as they were trying to get some kids to hold ANYTHING. They did work with her on it through the year & now the majority of the time she holds it right & if she doesn't I just remind her to and she does

All of the bolded things are stuff they work on them, plus the other skills I didn't respond too they will work with them also. BUT here none, of those are required to move onto Grade 1.

With the sitting still, here it is not rigid. When they're on the circle mat there are kids sitting in their neat little circle, others are laying down, others are sitting but not in the circle(but on the mat). As long as they kids aren't fooling around or bugging others they don't need to be sitting as perfectly well behaved robots.

Same when they're working at the tables(they don't get desks until Grade 1).

I am not being snarky. Although we are homeschooling, I am using that list as a guide.
I'm guessing it means coloring more or less "in" the lines, or maybe being able to draw something when requested? I know one K here asks the kiddos to draw a tree and to draw a person during the readiness testing...and also has them pick out a picture to color.
