In the windy city and TTC...........

Hi I have been lurking for a while and finally decided to post. So my partner and I have been trying for over a year and no luck yet. AF is due on 8/5, so I am in my 2WW which happens to be the most long and stressful moment each and every single &$%^%$^ month! I have not made any charts to track my CM, temp or nothing else like I once has cause I found that adds stress getting my hopes up every month FF gave me a crosshair, triasphic or finding myself wondering WHY THE H$&& my temps are all over the place. I really HOPE AND PRAY (hahaha like the name) that this month like EVERY month this is IT.

I hear ya' - There's only about one week a month where I feel "normal". The rest of the time it's either waiting for some sort of something to happen or sad because AF is here and I have to gear up for another month of doing it all over again. I already obsess over every little symptom, I actually can't imagine what I would be like if I charted. (No offense to those who do - I don't have to say that, do I?)

You're in the right place though!

P.S.- I'm just up the lake and across the border from you - I'm sure you won't hold it against me...

Nothing wrong with prayer as a fertility aid! :
Good luck and welcome to MDC.

I live very close to the Wisconsin border myself... in vaugely the Chicagoland area. I used to live on the other side of the border (in Wisconsin)... and I gotta say, I like WI so much more than IL. : No offense intended to any other IL folks here. There are some great towns, and Chicago is a great city to be sure. But it's so funny driving on a road from IL into WI, it's like the road suddenly becomes smoother and the roadside cleaner as soon as you hit the border. Like literally the minute you hit the border with some roads. And yet property taxes are so much higher on this side of the border plus the same roads are toll roads on the IL side, but toll-free on the WI side. : IL gov't is by far the most corrupt and wasteful gov't I've ever had to live under. DH and I totally love the house and town we live in right now, otherwise we'd both be tempted to move north a few more feet. We really do love Wisconsin.

I didn't mean to get on a random rant there. I just wanted to say "hi" and let you guys know I live in your general vincinity as well.

Hopenaprayr, Welcome! I think WHEN we all get preggers this month, we should meet for a night out somewhere to celabrate!

Thanks for the welcome ladies. I don't really like IL too much....so much noticeable segregation and prejudice, smh. Coming from the east coast and suddenly living here has been a BIG culture shock.

*baby dust to you all*

When we get that BFP we can surely meet and celebrate together

Hopenprayer - When did you move to Chicago? I think you'll find your niche. It's always hard moving to a new place and trying to adjust. I understand the 'culture shock' thing. I lived in Oklahoma for a short time - and I LOVED it, but it was definitely a culture shock.

CNutty - That is awesome! DH and I keep meaning to make a trip to Madison - it seems like our kind of town. I bet I live almost a couple of hours away from you, but given how MDC is so far reaching (like, worldwide), I'd call us neighbors.

LOL, I moved to IL from MD in that really terrible winter storm of 2005 December to be exact!

Im from madison, but I lived on the coast in VA, for about 4 years. I have to say I know what you are talking about, its a very differant experience. Have you tried looking in your tribal area? Maybe you could find some likeminded people there? I know I have found some pretty cool people by doing that!

I think trying to meet up (maybe in Chicago?) if we all get preggo around the same time would be so fun! What a great way to celabrate!

I have looked in the tribal area...its just SO many ppl that I get "virtually" claustaphobic.

A meet in Chicago when preggers would be GREAT they have a "Mommy/Daddy-2B" day spa package at the W hotel where they give a big gift basket to the ladies of everything from pickles and ice cream to cloth diapers and coupons in the package. The dads get pampered too with an ending to the day with a personalized glass of cognac and cigar at the BIG bar

Oh gosh I am getting ahead of myself but I have thought all this through to the T

That would be great! I've never met anyone from MDC, but it would be nice. I think especially once we (knock on wood) have children, it would be nice to have like-minded semi-crunchy folks to compare notes with.

That spa day sounds nice. DH would especially like the cognac part since he's tried to cut way back on alcohol for ttc purposes.

Now all we have to do is get the other date! :P

Hey just thought I'd chime in - we're not officially TTC until next month (actually, TTA until next month - I have to teach in the spring), but we're also in Chicago (downtown). I wonder how many of us are in the general area?
Well geez, I guess Im the only one here with a DC already, but I would have to come to our ge together alone, sans DH, he would have to be home with our 2 yearold! But thats ok, from my last pregnancy, I know that it works better for DH and I to have breaks from each other while Im pregnant...I get cranky!!!
Man, this would be fun...OK everyone, lets get busy!

Just wanted to say hi. We currently live in the NW burbs but will be moving further north (Antioch-ish) sometime this fall. We have been TTC # 3 for over a year but no luck- just discovered I have a tubal problem. We will keep trying and maybe borrow some of that hope and prayer. I would love to meet some MDCer IRL and have some friends in our new neighborhood!

Hi there! I'm in Chicago too!

We're trying for the first time next cycle - probably early-mid August. Just moved to Chicago last fall, and would love to meet folks too!
