"WHO?" I really hope he's not doing anybody. I assume you meant "What does DH do?" I personally think listens to the radio and surf's the internet. He's a bit lazy. He does play with the kids and do some of the basics plus dinner. DH refuses to post so I can be much more help.

I also laughed at the title, thinking "hopefully no one..."

Oh for heaven's sakes! (Is that old fashioned to say or what)?

I'm hoping you and your dh live in or near a big enough city to get support from other SAH ers.

Good for you for having your dh stay home with the kiddos.

Nobody unless the wife stays home!

My oldest is now in kindergarden and my youngest is in a 2 1/2 hours preschool 4 days a week so when I am totally free I go work out and get the grocery shopping done. Otherwise I try and keep the house in some sort of order and work on remodeling the house room by room. Beth likes to help daddy with his tools and we go hit a play ground when the weather permits so she can burn off some steam. I work evenings and weekends so I try to not wear myself out as well. It's a ballancing act.

I tend to house chores as best i can and play with the kids. Go to the playground, shopping, take the kids out to lunch every once and a while.

Usual stuff i guess

Dh does all the usual stuff - feeds DD, does laundry, cleaning, errand-running, gettting dinner prepped, etc. Usually in the mornings they go to playgroup.

Eileen!

My dh has been the SAHP for 5 years. Now that our kids are 5 and 3, here's what he does all day. Morning: wake the kids, make breakfast (usually pancakes or waffles, or toast and juice), take either the 5 yo only or both (they go on different days) to Montessori preschool 9-12. I have no idea what he does while they're at school.

He does all the outdoor work, gardening, weeding, mowing. He does all the laundry and hangs it outside. He makes gourmet lunches for the kids. (Seriously, he does.) He gets the kids at 12:30 and sometimes they go to the library before going home for lunch.

He often has playdates with others from the preschool in the afternoon. Or else he does things with the kids around the house until I get home at 5:00.

He and I take turns cooking dinner, one cooks, the other cleans up.

That's pretty much it. He takes the kids shopping sometimes, or to the playground, or they romp in the wading pool while he gardens or composts or whatever it is he does. lol.

Gourmet Lunches?

"He does all the outdoor work, gardening, weeding, mowing. He does all the laundry and hangs it outside. He makes gourmet lunches for the kids. (Seriously, he does.) "

What do they eat? That is such a hard one for us.

Some of their favorites:
He makes small patties (like silver dollar sized) of ground-up fresh vegetables (carrots, potatoes, sqash, broccoli, whatever we have in the fridge) and some ground nuts or dry bread crumbs, and probably egg, and sautes them in a little oil. The kids call them "veggie cookies".

He makes a spinach and cheese sauce for pasta that they scarf up like crazy.

He makes mashed potatoes and kale, and they sprinkle nutritional yeast over it.

He makes homemade pizza.

Also, he tries to get the kids involved in preparing the food. They love to press the button on the food processor when he grinds up the veggies. They love to stir, knead the pizza dough, add ingredients into a bowl, etc.

make breakfast-tidy up-get kids dressed-go shopping/erands/activity drop off- lunch, usually takeout : by then it's 4:30 and he goes to work and I come home.

"He makes mashed potatoes and kale, and they sprinkle nutritional yeast over it."

Thanks for all the great ideas! I especially like the one above. DD just really started eating, and I am at a loss for easy healthy meals.

17 week old in our house so there's no routine yet. this a.m. I hunted till about 9 then came home and kissed the OL off to work. baby slept a couple hours, I cleaned up, worked a little, fed teh baby, worked some more.

impossible to plan a day at this point. I cook the easy stuff for supper. steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, grill, fry, crock pot, pasta, etc.

DH does the shopping, pays the bills (with the $$ I make, LOL), keeps the house from looking like a disaster zone, and is also remodeling one room at a time. He makes dinner every night, and will let me hang out with the kids while he does dishes. He also spends a good deal of time on the internet...some of it for fun, but he also researches all our purchasing decisions and finds good deals, etc.

I can't get him to do laundry or bathrooms unless it is an emergency, and while he knows how to clean, he does not know how to organize, so those are my jobs on the weekends. I spend weekday evenings playing with my kiddos and my husband (after the kids go to bed) .

DH spends the day playing with DS. They go to rec time, the park, shopping (lots of shopping!), museum, watch some TV and play with toys. He does minimal cleaning/cooking around the house as he seems to not have the knack to 'multitask'.

I should add that DH also works full time out of the home on the weekend so he isn't technically a SAHD.

DH doesn't have a routine. He feeds them, he helps DS1 with school stuff and he cleans up about an hour before I get home.

Exactly the reason I am reading it!

DH normally gets up when I leave for work at 6:30am if 36mo ds is already up, otherwise he gets up whenever ds gets up. He wakes up 8yo dd and get the kids dressed/showered and ready. He normally cook them hot breakfast (egg and cheese sandwiches, pancakes, scrambled egg wraps, oatmeal).

He walks dd to school and they run errands, or go to playgroup or play outside or inside, or whatever until lunch time. After lunch, ds has a nap from about 1 to 2:30. That's when he sits in front of the computer with coffee. After nap, it's time to get ready to go pickup dd from school.

That's also about the time I get home. As soon as he's back from school, he'll make lunches for the next day.

In the middle of all that, he does housework, cooking, all the laundry (except my clothes).

I don't know how he does it. I'm not nearly that productive when I'm home.
