Need the warm fuzzies....(Update 7/31)

(This is also posted on the Feb DDC)

Yesterday, the H and I were in a small accident - someone rear ended us. Which made me have cramps, which made me call the doctor after hours. He said nothing to worry about, since I wasn't bleeding and the cramps weren't severe, but he had me come in first thing this morning for an ultrasound, just to make sure.

We had two big surprises at the ultrasound - the first was that there are twins in there! TWINS! There are NO twins on either side of our family! The second surprise was not so pleasant. The babies are only at seven weeks and the doctor could not see a heart beat. The ultrasound was transvaginal, and he said they normally see a heartbeat by now. I'm not concerned about them being two weeks behind, because I really have no idea when I ovulated, so that could be fairly correct. Obviously, the heartbeat is the bigger issue.

We go for a follow up u/s on Tuesday (the 31st) morning.

The doctor says he has seen miracles happen, so we are hoping we are going to add two more to that list!

And for fun, here are our TWO beans!

Wow!!! What a surprise! That's fantastic. Congrats on two precious little miracles. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for the ultrasound on Tuesday. Everything is still sooo small, chances are good that everything will turn out perfectly.
In the meantime, try not to stress, and do your best to celebrate the conception of two little people! They are miracles. Truly.

Hi, Katherine....Wow! I remember that sweet surprise myself! We went in for a routine ultrasound and there were two precious little ones in there. I wasn't expecting them but as soon as I saw them, I WANTED them both! I know how hard it is to say "try not to worry"....so much easier said then done. I m/c 2 years ago and when I became pg again this time I got some wonderful advice from a Mama on a board here are MDC. She told me I had to believe in this little one and not let the worry carry me away. I think that advice works for you too. Believe in these babies and try not to let the worry get to you. I have a feeling that these precious souls are going to be just fine.

On a side note...it looks like your babies have two amnions but one chorion (the outer layer of the amniotic sac). Did the doctor mention that? It would mean that they are monozygotic (identical). Two books to get..."When You're Expecting Twins...." by Dr. Barbara Luke and "Having Twins" by Elizabeth Noble. Also, of course, "Mothering Multiples" by Karen Gromada.

Good luck and PLEASE keep us posted!!

Katherine - What a wild 2 days for you! I am so excited for you about the twins and also hoping for the very best news on Tuesday! In the meantime, I will be thinking of you and hoping that you can feel some calm during this hard wait.

PS Sorry about the car accident too. Isn't it funny how unimportant that seems right now?

Yeah on the twins, and hang in there mommy! Days seems so invalid from our perspective, but with those little ones, it's only a matter of days -- even moments -- between no heartbeats, and two strong healthy ones. It truly is easier to tell someone else to not worry than to actually do it, but do the best you can not to worry. And do please keep us updated!

Ashley - they'll be doing a f/u u/s on Tuesday - if the babies have grown and have hb, then everything is great. If not, we'll discuss our other options.

Right now it's a wait and see.

Holding your sweet little ones in the light.

So often this happens, and the babies are absolutely fine - hang in there, though I know it's difficult.

Thank y'all so so much!

We have been blessed with two incredible babies and we are just enjoying every moment we have with them. You never know if you have four more days or four hundred years with anything or anyone, so we are just going to live every moment with these babies with great joy!

Whatever happens on Tuesday will never change that right now, I'm the momma of twins and that thought thrills me to my very toes!

I'm an emotional basketcase (crying over everything) but even if I weren't I think your last post would have made me cry. It's just so sweet!
