Hello. I'm looking for some thoughts on my situation.
(A little background: @ 30 weeks, I had a 3 day hospital stay due to some bleeding & contractions. Was kept a day 1/2 longer after both stopped due to Dcells. The incident was classified as an abruption of the placenta, although no u/s could detect that was the case. Sent home with a slow/gradual increase in activity. I've been able to continue to plan my birth at an unrelated (to the hospital) birth center w/ my CNM's. Yesterday I had a follow up u/s at the hospital).
So, I had to go back to the hospital yesterday for a follow up u/s to scan the baby and make sure it's growing, etc. since the "abruption of the placenta", which never was really confirmed if that's what happend.
Anyway, the baby seems to be measuring a week 1/2 behind (14th percentile), where as a month ago, baby was a week ahead (50 percentile). They put me on EFM for half hour to check heart tones, they were fine, dipped a little here and there but nothing alarming, blood flow was good, fluid was good. Leaning on the side of caution, they are going to suggest to my CNM's that I take non-stress test every week and another u/s in few weeks.
Crazy thing is, that I've gained over 5 lbs. in less than a month. It's hard for me to wrap my brain around that baby might be small.
Should I be concerned?
The hospital is going to send the report to my CNM's and I'll see them next week.
On another note, they said the baby was in "strange" position. Head is down and back is in the middle facing out. I tried to clarifiy if it was in an inconvenient position for the u/s but didn't really get much of a response. They just said usually babes lay on either side. Is baby laying straight up and down (which is how DH and I understood the short tempered tech) a "strange" position?
Thanks for letting me vent. This kinda put a damper on my day. I can be worry wart and trying so hard to just listen to my instincts, which says, "it's ok" but I feel a little confused and concerned.
