Front loaders ?! Yay or Nay? - Page 3

I have a European AEG front loader. The wash quality and efficiency is excellent--my only gripes are load size (which is to be expected when your washing machine is the same size as your dishwasher ) and cycle length (which is long even fro European FLs--a full 60C cycle takes 145 mins WITHOUT drying! Wash & dry takes 242min, 211min for 40C [clothes temp]).

I'd always go FL after this.. what I covet is the full American size Miele machines. Now THOSE are fantastic. Interesting to see that Miele lowers the top spin speed to 1400 for the States though! (UK machines are 1600--Miele actually makes an 1800 one).

Oh and always go for the internal water heater--you can get a proper hot wash, and it doesn't suck all the hot water from your tank.
Ah, yes NZ- thanks for that info.

I love Miele vacs but when comparing machines- let's talk about pricepoint, too. Miele is so expensive! The F&P we bought was 550.00 five years ago. That is a bargain for a washer bin that you can put a King size quilt into.

I've had the frigidaire front loader (the low end one) for 4 years, and I've never had a problem with it. I used it to wash cloth diapers with no problems what so ever.

I would never go back to a top loader.

yeah - that's why i covet Mieles, but own an AEG (Although my AEG was rated a Which? Best Buy).

For vacuums, can't beat a Dyson!

Caution about Bosch appliances: check to see if there are repair services in your area. We had a Bosch dishwasher, and when it quit working properly, no one would come to our house to do repairs.

Though Bosch has a great reputation, we were less than happy with our Bosch dishwasher.

I have a new (two months old) Whirlpool Duet. Love the washer, the dryer door is a pain - the bits that connect to lock it shut are top and bottom of the door, not right across from the hinge, so it is a pain to get it shut right. I wouldn't buy it again for that reason, but once shut it does an awesome job.

Stay away from Maytag, they are the biggest load of crap on the planet. My dishwasher (a high end one) never cleaned properly, had two motors in two years, and finally died six months ago, at 2.5 years old. And they never honoured their warranty either.

We got the blue set w/ drawers. Love it! It is one of the few reasons to stay in our condo. When I wash diapers, I rarely have to sun anything anymore. I wash on sanitary and then have an extra rinse. The only thing I don't like is that you can't add anything in after you start the load, and DD2 always poops right after it begins washing

Yes and apparently I violated some rules for posting?! I was not aware that there was a forum for posting my ?? and I'm not sure exactly what problems my post caused but apparently it added to someone's workload? Sorry! I wish someone could just have pm'd me and asked me delete my post. I would have!

Thank-you for everyone that responded to my ?? Seems like there are too many choices even when they're narrowed down....going to go through all the brands everyone listed. I appreciate EVERYONE's input!

LG is a Korean company and it used to stand for Lucky Goldstar but apparently Life's Good is easier for marketing
