weaned ds june 28, still no AF. normal?

Okay, i have a few questions. Well, I have been weaning my son from the breast the month of June and he was completely weaned June 28th. I haven't had a period since he was conceived last year. July 18th and 19th i had some cramping that felt like AF was on her way, but she never showed up. So the cramping caught my curiosity and I took a HPT July 20th and it was negative. So, i'm still sitting around waiting for AF. I bought another HPT tonight but am not sure if i should take it yet. I guess i was wondering when would be the best time to take it? And i keep thinking i should have had a period by now. AF came back before my daughter was even weaned last time. I have been super tired lately, but that could be a number of things.

While this was not my personal experience, I have heard of it happening. My periods got a whole lot more sporadic once I weaned. Didn't make sense to me, but your body is going through a lot of changes. I would wait for awhile before I took the HPT. While you could be pg. your body is probably just readjusting itself.

i weaned my first at 3 months, she didn't gain weight and i was so anxious with her. I try not to make excuses, because that's just what they are, excuses. My son i weaned june 28th. he's 5 months old. I started going back to work and he took to the sippy cup quite nicely. Yes i miss it, and i am proud of myself for giving him the best for even that short amount of time. We would like to have another baby, i see how my two year old interacts with my son and we've decided that our family is meant to be close in age. I could really use some advice.

It took a while for my period to come back anyway, six months, but I'm still bf'ing. You could get a basal thermometer and chart, to see if you're ovulating yet. But, to answer your original question, it's normal to not have gotten your period back yet.
