5 year old completely not ready to sleep by himself! - Page 2

I'm wondering if the common thread here is the late bedtimes... ( or naps?...)

I try to get ds actually in bed by 7:30, and he is usually asleep by 8. This way, even if it takes him an hour to fall asleep, (it never does...) I am guaranteed "me time" for at least a couple hours.
It wasn't always this way, though: he used to go to bed at 9, and half the time I fell asleep with him. I re-calibrated his inner clock pushing it back 15 minutes a night, and voila! We're up a bit earlier in the mornings now, but I love the evenings with dp so much that I don't mind at all. (most of the time...)
I don't know if this would work for you guys, but you could try it. By the time up-at-6 ds gets to 7:30, he is sleepy and ready to crash.

My 7.5 year old and 4 year old still don't like to go to sleep alone so we have put them to bed together. Depending on the ages of children it might not work for all families, but it has been a huge help for us. At first we put them to sleep in our family bed, but not they go to sleep in a bed in the room they share and know they are welcome to come into our bed whenever they wake up and want to. It has been a blessing for me while I bond with their little brother and some of my happiest parenting moments have been listening to them giggle in bed together.

I am 100% percent that if they didn't have each other, both my 7.5 year old and 4 year would need us to go to sleep with them.
