Questions to ask dr about twins

Does anyone have any resources on natural birth for twins (in hospital)? Or at least a questioneer to ask her dr about birth of twins?

I know she should look for someone who will consider delievering breech.

I've found a lot of good questions for her to ask when interviewing a doctor... but nothing about twins....

Please recommend "Having Twins" by Elizabeth Noble. She covers so many things (including how natural it is to have higher blood pressure towards the end, etc). I cannot recommend that book highly enough.

I would also ask if they routinely induce for twins before term. Many docs routinely induce at 35-36 weeks.

I would also be looking for a family practice doc or CNM, not an OB/surgeon. Then again, I'd be looking for a homebirth. ha!

I have a friend who had twins naturally in a hospital. She picked the best hospital and best practice for natural birth around but still had to give birth in the OR on a table with a surgeon standing over her with a scalpel. And her whole labor was only about 2 hours!

Now, now, let's not oversimplify

Well the most important thing to know about twins is how many placentas and how many sacs, and if they can be identified as MZ or DZ.

Monoamniotic twins are very rare and can be very complicated -- I only know one person who has them. Monochorionic twins run the risk of TTTS, which is fatal about 80% of the time for one or both twins.

Mine were monochorionic diamniotic with TTTS and no CNM or family doc would come near me, it was all Perinates/MFM all the time.

However, I did have a nice vaginal birth in the hospital -- second twin was a feet first breech. My MFM was fully supportive of vaginal breech, so that was very cool. He had some a ton of twins and mults. I liked him a lot.
