with this baby we were trying a whole year ..... !! i was getting used to it not happening then out of nowhere it did! the doctor was even doing blood tests on me every month to check i was releasing an egg!! because my first baby i conceived within 3 mths of no protection. Sadly ended in M/C then 3 mths after the M/C i was pregnant again (at easter) then sadly again ended in M/C..... then a whole year of no protection and OPKs and trying trying trying but nothing... then Easter monday we got the big positive when we due to go for even more extensive tests on the friday !!!! lol ..... crazy how it works out .. and your theory suggests its a boy .. how crazy if that theory really is true? ive heard something like that before as well ... but our little one would not cooperate at the scan so even though we wanted to know the sex ... we havent a clue !

We were trying for almost 13 months. I had been charting since May 2006-Feb 2007. Feb. and March I also used a fertility monitor, with March only using a monitor and no charting (the charting was making me a wreck). Used Preseed as well. I'm pretty sure we conceived the day we closed on our house

Needless to say, very planned and very grateful that I didn't need further assistance. That was coming up on the horizon.

I was still nursing so didn't think I'd get pg so quickly.... so I guess it was kinda a surprise, but we planned on really trying in June or July. Just a little earlier than we wanted Oh AF just returned also
post #25 of 87
Af returned in January while nursing we went 3 cycles before getting pregnant! I was surprised I thought it would take much longer since I was nursing and my cycles were way off it was hard for me to tell when I would O.

Hmmm... it wasn't a surprise, but it also wasn't planned. I'm very regular and knew when I would more then likely conceive, usually we did the pull and pray or he got cut off for a week. But we didn't that time. I told dh that we were going to get pregnant, and of course we did.

As for the theory of boy= TTC girl = surprise. I've heard that the boy sperm are really fast swimmers compared to the girl, but that they die off quickly. Where as the girls are slow but survive longer. If the woman has ovulated already it will be a boy, if its one or two days before ovulation then it will be a girl.

It was wanted but not really planned - we decided it wouldn't be a bad thing to get pregnant, didnt use protection a couple of times and ended up conceiving right away.

OK so I made a list of us and if we were TTC or not. Then I used the December Roll Call thread to see if it was a boy or girl or not finding out. So far the "theory" is correct for those of us who know! This is really interesting!! Anyone else find this odd? What a surprise discovery... wonder if it has any merit? I'm sure there will be a few soon to prove it wrong. Let's see!

(oh and if I have info wrong please let me know!

That's weird!

Add me to the surprise girl list. I actually was using FAM to avoid & found out that I'm technically infertile due to luteal phase defect and other issues. (I RARELY ovulate and when I do I get my period within a couple days so that a fertilized egg can't implant. Plus my cervical fluid is always so dry that it's a hostile environment for sperm!) Anyway one weekend after we were a bit lax about protection... I had a lot of ovulatory cervical fluid and then BAM ovulated and now here I am!

Surprise here - and I don't think we're finding out what this babe is going to be!

We got pregnant on the first real attempt...and its a boy!

a little of both, I guess? We'd started trying March of 06. Had a miscarriage in July, another in Sept, and then one in Feb of this year. Decided to take a break from ttc and we were going to use condoms during my fertile times. I was close to cd14 (I'm one of the freaks that actually DOES ovulate that day ) but DH said that since I wasn't showing any other signs of being fertile he didn't want to worry about the condom. We weren't sure my cycle would be on track anyway since it was my first post m/c cycle and it had been 5 weeks from the m/c which was unusual for me (based on other m/cs). Apparently that one time was all it took.

We had just started chrting to avoid I was torn about wanting to do it then and waiting to have another one. We dtd and the next day my temp shot up. I had only taken my temp one day and I thought I has ovulated earlier in the week. I knew as soon as I took that temp that I was going to be pg. Sure enough, 10 days later I had a bfp! at least hubby wasn't upset. I had told him before we dtd that it was possible I could get pg. It was the only time that month we had been intimate!! I don't know what we are having but I am going to schedule a u/s at the community college so we can find out. Dh really wants to know!!

Beyond suprize and into shock. We weren't supposed to be able to get pregnant on our own, between my endometriosis and blocked tube and DH's count and motility it took lots of interventions last time. We were thinking about maybe trying again next year, but I was too scared of going into treatment again. Meanwhile, my midwife had put me on natural progestrone to treat some of the endo symptoms and after telling me there was no way it would effect my fertility at all, apparently it sent it through the roof. One night of 'Eh, why bother!' and we were knocked up.

We don't know what we're having yet, but it's no secret that I'm hoping and praying for a girl, so if we could just keep this trend going until our u/s on August 13th, that would be grand.

Exactly 1 year TTC and we wont know gender till Thursday.
we were so lucky this time. It was our first night of not-abstaining (we use NFP), dh had just (that day!) been offered a new job. We conceived that night! Total coincidence that he was offered a job the day before I happened to ovulate. I guess timing was just on our side.

With our first child it took us a few months, so we were expecting that this time around too. We were NOT expecting to get pregnant on the first try.

I guess that counts as "trying to conceive"? We will find out the baby's gender on Tuesday.

Beppie - Are you saying you were TTC that night and just in shock it happened so soon? As in you knew you would ovulate around then? If so yeah I think that's TTC.
