Help! Sand Fleas in the bed.

So, yesterday we went to a sandy playground. I felt something biting me, and said ouch, I think some bugs are on me. I have to shower when I get home. On the way home, DS fell asleep (nursing in the backseat with me, in the carseat), and we transported him to bed (with me and my magic milk, of course), and I didn't shower til later. I didn't think too much of the bugs biting me, and would have showered before getting in bed, if it weren't for my son and his precious sleep.

Now, DH and I are itching like crazy, and DH is covered in little red bites. It seems I've brought sand fleas (that we can't see...no see 'ums I guess) into our bed!!! We changed the sheets, and they are still there.

Help! What can we do to get them out?
I went out to the store and got some RAID for fleas, but it seems so lethal and awfully chemical, and I hate to put it on our mattress, where we sleep.

Any other suggestions?
Anyone know if Raid is my only choice, and if it's safe to put on our bed?

Thanks so much for any help asap! We need to sleep in a few hours, and I'd like to be able to sleep in our bed, knowing we won't get eaten by yucky bugs.

wow I sure hope you found another solution - there's no way I'd put Raid on my bed!!!

I would suggest you vacuum the bed and change the sheets daily. I think Wormwood is a natural pest control herb - you don't want to actually eat it (thinking keep it away from the kids and pets ) but you could sprinkle it on in the AM and vacuum it off before someone needs the bed again maybe. Borax is another idea (with same warning about pets and kids).

Can you transport it out into the sunshine?

I am sure there must be other natural things that would help. I am about to sleep or I'd search a little for you.
