My kids are getting impatient

Me: [Silently: I love you and I forgive you for asking.] Out loud: No.

Mir (age 7): Mom, could Jake be borned five minutes from now?

Me. Nope.

Mir: What about 10 minutes from now?

Me: No, not very likely. It takes awhile after labor starts for the baby to be born.

Mir: Well, what about in TWENTY minutes?

Me: No, baby. I suppose it's possible, but not very likely at all for us. It took you and HM two days EACH to be born.

Mir: Oh. Well, what about in THIRTY minutes?

Me: Let's talk about something else now.

Aww hon, the obnoxious 12 yr old here thinks it's amusing to torment me by asking if I've had the baby yet.... I think he heard me bitching to somebody that I'm sick of people asking that when they can clearly see I haven't and the phone calls.... OMG the phone calls.

LOL my 15 yr old is right there with your ten year old. He insists either the midwife or I should know when the baby is coming. I'm getting pretty worn out with the whole waiting thing myself so yeah, Um people I'll call you when the baby is born, no call, no baby!!

Uhg- I hated being at that point with each kid where if you must make a phone call you have to start it with, "Hi it's me, no baby yet, but anyway...."

I walked out of the bathroom the other day and my mom asked if there was any bloody show. She was also certain I would have the baby in the car on the way to my midwife appt. I was talking to her on the phone on the way to the appt. How she could possibly imagine I would go from not being in labor to having a baby in the next few minutes is beyond me. It's so incredibly annoying. I feel for you.
