Deodorant stone irritating underarms

This might sound crazy but:
I've used one of those crystal rock deodorant stones for a few years. I've noticed that if the stone develops cracks from, oh, I don't know, being dropped, that it starts to irritate my underarms. I assume what's happening is the edges of the fissures in the rock are a little rough and the ol' underarms can't take it. All I know is that once it gets this way, when I put it on, my underarms sting for a while. If I keep using it, they become irritated to the point that I have to buy a new rock. Has anyone else experienced this?

You might try the roll-on version of the rock. It works just as well, same ingredient in a sterile water base. Avoid the spray ... the sprayer often gets clogged.

My first thought is that you're cutting your underarms when you use it after it cracks. Then, you are putting the deo. into the small cuts and yes, that's irritating.

I recently dropped my crystal deo and it chipped in a spot, so I make sure to avoid that spot. The other crystal deo I used to use (diff brand) wasn't as good quality, so when I dropped it, the entire thing cracked and became uneven and I had to throw it away b/c it hurt to keep using it. This one I can still use.

I say throw that one out and buy a diff one. It's not worth the pain. The one I use now is simply called "Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal". It's by TCCD International.

I emailed the ppl who make it. They said sandpaper or an emory board should do the trick. I'm too cheap to throw it away - yet.

I second the roll-on version of the crystal deodorant. It works the same.

Sandpaper or emory board. I didn't think of that. I just wet it and tried rubbing it down, which obviously didn't work. LOL

Good to know. Thanks!

I've had this happen before just cause there were naturally occuring fissures in the rock. I'm not throwing out a $6 piece of deodorant before its time!
