Since last night, I've been getting sharp pains in the lower sides of my belly. It's not contractions, it's more like painfully stretching muscles, because the baby is growing fast and getting big. They're supposed to be gaining about half a pound a week at this point, so it makes sense.

Or maybe it's just gas...

last night at 3:15 am, i woke up with a lower belly twinge and then BAM! my water broke! i have not gotten out of bed faster than that in atleast 6 months! luckily we had put a waterproof mattress pad on the bed just in case, and that the bathroom is right across the hall from my bedroom. i didn't know that it would be such a deluge! since i had not had any contractions at all we decided to go in and just have the midwife check me over just in case.... all is well, the baby is really low, i am fine and now i am back home just keeping an eye out for infection and awaiting the start of hard-core labour! i have had some small contractions in the past hour, but nothing serious yet!

Yay Edenluna!
I thought of putting the waterproof pad on our bed this weekend when I changed the sheets but I was too lazy. I think you might've convinced me to find the energy somehow.
Are you walking? Come on contractions!

Me too Kelly! So funny. I actually had some waterproof pads in my amazon shopping basket and then decided not to get them because I didn't want to pay for shipping. Crazy thinking because I KNOW replacing my mattress is waayyy more expensive than paying the stupid shipping fee. Guess I'll go back to amazon and actually make the purchase now.

yay eden! i hope you have a lovely labor and are holding your baby soon!

I have a waterproof mattress pad on. I also covered the pillows with plastic bags, one in each direction, under the pillow cases. Today I am going to tape together some chux pads and put that under the sheet also, and another one on the couch where I spend most of my time.

Good Luck EdenLuna!

Yay eden! I hope you have a peaceful, healthy and speedy delivery.

Hmmm now I'm wondering if I should put a waterproof pad on my bed too.

oi. last night was rough for me. i couldn't get comfy and then everytime i'd finally get somewhat comfy i'd be wide awake again cuz i was about to pee my pants! i think i was up 4 times before 1. and then i sent my sister a text/email (she's over in Qatar and i don't think my emails go thru when i sent them to her thru yahoo, so i send them thru my phone! haha) cuz i was still awake and she text back right as i was falling back asleep. haha. not to mention i was having HORRIBLE pains in my pelvic bones or something everytime i move. heck, even when i don't move. and i was having *almost* contractions. haha. they hurt a little, enough to make me aware of them when i was almost asleep but not enough to REALLY hurt.

my 10 y/o neice says the baby is coming today. haha. we'll see.

OMG- you are so organized! I hadn't even thought to do this yet.

I had my first real contraction last night. I've been having bh for a while, but this felt different. It wrapped all the way around my back and really took my breath away. Just one though. I'm going to see my mw now and an accupuncturist this afternoon. 41w1d for first time babies? Ack! I'll be torn apart with impatience by then. I feel so ready right now- I had a lovely meditation this morning.

Patience. Patience. Patience.

QUOTE] Me too. Couldn't move!!! And this morning during the most satisfying stretch of my life WHAM charley horse.....

I bought a really cheap waterproof cover (basically like a shower curtain) my first pregnancy. It was really loud every time I moved in bed!

Can't wait to hear Edenluna!!!!!

Eden, Hope labor starts soon for you and is the peaceful, joyful celebration we all hope for!

Yay, Eden! Happy birthing to you!

Last night I woke up and was unable to get back to sleep, not at all unusual for me. So I came into the den to play online sudoko, which often lulls me back into sleepiness. While I was sitting at the computer I was having very regular contractions, each lasting about 1 minute with 10 minutes in between. After about an hour I started to feel sleepy again, so I went back to bed. The contractions faded when I did

But, there is good news. As I was lying there hoping to fall back asleep my baby sent me a very strong message about what her name is. I'm crying now thinking of it because my mother's name will be her middle name. My mother passed away in March 2006 and I still miss her every day. Her name doesn't 'sound' good as a middle name, but when the entire name formed in my head as I lay there, it sounded so exactly, perfectly right. Drat, crying again thinking about it.

I wish I could get a sign like that. We still have nothing. Well we have a couple names that we don't totally hate, so we'll wait til we see her and hopefully something will strike us then.

DH has been calling her Mona because I moan a lot when I move around, especially in bed

Mona

Our babers is still nameless, too. Down to two top pics - Evelyn (DH's grandmother's name) and Eleanor (cousin's name). Both family names. Both are "DH-approved." Any thoughts?

Anyone else trying to wrap their head around the possibility of going overdue? Maybe even WAAYY overdue? EDD is Saturday, but DS was 8 days late, but he was OP. Not sure if that made a difference or it was just me being a first-time mom.

I thought I was ok with waiting, but now am not so sure. I know I am not up to continuing to work, but if I stop now, then I will have less time with her.

Good luck, edenluna! Before bed tonight I'm definitely sticking one of the big chux pads between the mattress and sheet. We just bought this mattress a few months ago and dp would positively kill me if my water broke on it!

Last night we stayed up way too late watching TV, and I was having pretty strong contractions the whole time. We went to bed at about 2am, and they were still coming, but I was able to fall asleep anyway. Then at about 6am I woke up having very intense, very uncomfortable contractions with back pain every few minutes - I was really beginning to think this was it! Ctxs have never actually woken me up before. But then they stopped.: I'm still having quite a few strong ones today, and I was nauseous all morning, and my lower back is bothering me (ooh, here's another good one...)

I'm thinking definitely this week. My friend guessed Thursday, and she correctly guessed DS's birthday (and exact weight, coincidentally) so we'll see if she's right again. If she is, our babes will be 2 weeks apart - our toddlers are 2 months apart, which is fun because they've pretty much always known each other.
