C-section scheduled

That's it. I have late onset gestational diabetes with a baby who is measuring between 48 and 52 weeks, with not yet fully developed lungs. His abdomen circumference is enormous apparantly. I have been released to a high risk doctor. If I go into labor before the 16th, the scheduled date, I will have a c-section anyway. Major major bummer.

Not in your DDC...I saw this in the new posts. But I am a CS mama too, and wanted to offer .

If you want to ask any kind of questions to someone who definitely understands how you're feeling, feel free to PM.

Oh mama. I am so sorry. I'm not terribly familiar with GD, but why can't you deliver vaginally if you go before the scheduled date? I can't imagine having to go through that mama. I really am sorry.

Sending you lots and lots of hugs. I just went back and re-read your posts from last week. Would you feel better getting a second opinion from your NYC OB? Or maybe it isn't worth it if you feel the specialists are very good. Sending lots of good thoughts to you and your baby. Please keep us posted.

I cannot deliver vaginally because there is great concern that due to his abdomen circumference that he will get stuck. Even if I wanted to push the issue, which believe me, I do, I could not find an OB who would even attempt to deliver me vaginally. The risk, I have been told is simply too great. At this point, I need to stay focused on everyone's health.

Thanks. I am in the city now, with my old OB and a high risk doctor together.

Oh, sorry. I didn't even think of the size issue. I am so sorry mama. I hope you have some great support for afterwards. Have you thought of having then keep your placenta so you can have it dried and encapsulated? It would really be helpful for bleeding issues, and getting your milk in after the c/s, and it helps tremendously with mood, especially since you are having to go a way different route than you desire. Just a thought, I know you probably have plenty on your mind at this point. I am so sorry.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm glad you will be in the care of a good doctor though. How are you feeling? Does the GD affect *you* very much?

I've had GD with all my pregnancies (one was diagnosed late too) and will schedule my 3rd c/s today. Ultimately it's all about healthy baby, healthy mama. Hugs to you!!!

I am sorry, that really blows! But it sounds like you are doing the best thing for the baby at this point. One thing that might help is that Henci Goer, in The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, had some really good-sounding suggestions for how to have the best possible c-section experience if you do have to have one ...
