I thougt we could all fill out a little quiz so that we can get to know each other better, and keep track of our weight loss and othe NSV's (non-scale victories). If you don't want to fill in your current weight it's ok, just skip it!

Hmmm... maybe that's true, I don't know. But when you said your clothes are fitting better, that's what made me wonder that. At my gym they measure body fat % and I have noticed that it goes down even when I don't lose any *weight*, but my clothes fit better and I feel better - my old trainer (he left the gym : ) said it's cause of muscle gain. Could also be some water retention, maybe?

Either way - Melanie is totally right, it's still a loss!

Hey everyone

Name: Christy

Age: 32.5

Starting Date & Weight: 7/99 - 248 :

Current Weight: 205 (Yikes, I'm PMSing so it's worse than usual...last week I was under 200 so either it's water or my scale is broken)

Weight Loss to Date: around 45, I keep on losing weight-getting pregnant-gaining weight during pregnancy-losing weight-getting pregnant..you get the picture.

Weight Loss Goal: 180 short term, 160 long term, though I'm really happy at 180 and that is where I tend to "hover" usually. At least before I get pregnant. Every time I get that thin I get pregnant :, so I've never actually made it down to the 160s since I was in high school. I look VERY thin then, and I'm taller with a large frame so everyone always guessing that I'm thinner than I am.

Goals Other than Weight Loss: I'm continually in a state of figuring out who I am. Right now, I have very few goals other than surviving the day. Sad, but true. Weight loss could be one of them. There are other things that I am doing, BUT I can't call them achieving goals. I just feel like I'm in a period of my life where I'm in a "rest period" (I'm a very goal oriented person so it's a rest period with respect to that, though I'm not really resting you see as I have three kiddos).

Favorite Workout Routine: I love to dance, do workout tapes, use dumbells. Strength training is something I really enjoy, as I've been told I'm freakishly strong for a woman.

MDC Forum You Spend the Most Time In: Case Against Circumcision and Pets

Interests/Hobbies: Intactavism, my cat, crochet (like I get time for it)

Number of Children: 3 young kiddos who keep me very busy!

Occuption: My past career feels like eons ago, so I'll just say I'm a SAHM

Anything else you want to share: I've very low maintenancy physically, high maintenance intellectually/emotionally. I believe in natural beauty, rarely wear makeup or just very little. When I'm thinner I'm a hottie :

Goals for August 2007:13 pound loss... I need a number to strive for. I know it seems like a lot, but honestly I know myself. Right now it's just before my period and I'm holding water, so it's very likely that I will lose that much this month.

Name: Natasha

Age: 33 until August 23

Starting Date & Weight: 10/06 - 228.6

Current Weight: 186

Weight Loss to Date: almost 43lbs

Weight Loss Goal: 169 - only because it is at the top of the weight range for my height. Ultimately I would like to get into the low 160s which is where I was in my early 20s.

Goals Other than Weight Loss: Become more active, and be a positive role model for my girls by living an overall healthy lifestyle.

Favorite Workout Routine: I did a triathlon last month, and I want to more. I used to be a competitive swimmer, but it's hard for me to get to the pool as often as I want, so my current favourite activity is running.

MDC Forum You Spend the Most Time In: Parenting Issues, Childhood Years and I lurk in TAO, but rarely post there.

Interests/Hobbies: I love to read when I have time, and I used to sew a lot when I was in high school and want to get back into that but I need to get a sewing machine.

Number of Children: 2 beautiful little girls - 5 and 21 months

Occuption: HR Manager

Anything else you want to share: I'm still struggling with the diet/weight loss mentality. I need to lose the weight and Weight Watchers has definately helped me do that, but at the same time, I am trying to adopt a healthy lifestyle that I can live with forever since I know that once I get to goal, I will probably be really tired of counting points.

Goals for August 2007: To get out of the 180's once and for all!!

Favorite Workout Routine: Walking on the treadmill.

It is so nice to get to know you all!! What a great idea

I have a knitting/spinning group that meets once a week at 6pm at a local mall near the food court. Due to work & being busy I am not "with it" enough to bring dinner with me so I get something from the food court. It's a typical food court - a little of everything; pasta, pizza, "American" food, thai, chinese, indian, bbq, mexican, etc. What are some reasonable things to get at a place like this? I am never sure what "hidden" points might be in something.

last week I got a pulled pork BBQ sandwich although I asked them to use the side cornbread instead of a bun for the sandwich - so I had a 3x3" piece of cornbread and probably 4 oz of pork with probably 1/2cup of bbq sauce. That all seems quite reasonable to me (I put it down as 12 points - 4 for the cornbread, 4 for the pork, 4 for the sauce) but I just don't know what else might be in there, you know?
Is there a Subway in the food court? You can get a 6" sub for anywhere from 6-10 points depending on what you put on it. Last week I had a roasted chicken sub on the cheese bread with cheddar cheese for 8 points. If I had whole wheat bread and no cheese it would have been 6. If there is no Subway, a similar sandwich place would probably be OK. Bean burritos can be relatively low points as well (around 10 or so).

Weight Loss to Date: 1.5lb

Weight Loss Goal: 125lb (thats still 1lb heavier than the highest range on WW. There goal for me is 99lb, but that just seems too unattainable. Im only 4' 11")

Goals Other than Weight Loss: I want to be a healthy, active woman. I also want to be a great role model for my girls and not give them any self-confidence issues or pass on any of my own skewed body image problems.

Favorite Workout Routine: Walking and Pilates

Anything else you want to share sure am glad I stumbled along this thread. I am really enjoying sharing this journey with you ladies :

Goals for August 2007: To join the YMCA and start attending Pilates class 3x a week. By the end of the month, I want to atleast make it to 139lb. I need to work on drinking AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day!! With me still nursing, this is imperative! I ended up in the hospital last summer w/ dehydration!

No Subway - I don't think many/any of these places are chains. Bean burrito is a good idea. And the "American" place definitely has sandwiches! Thanks for the ideas.

I had my 2nd weigh-in today. Despite feeling "fat" and not very positive about it, I am down 2.6 lbs!!! For a total of 4.8. I am pretty sad I didn't make it down an extra .2 though to get my first star. But next week!! I will do it!

However I did have my hair cut last night, a fairly drastic cut - maybe 6-8" off. So, I imagine some of that contributed. BUT certainly not 2.6 lbs so I know some of the weight loss was mine...

Congrats on the amazing loss today!!

I weighed in today too, and was down one pound. I am quite happy with that since it's the first time in ages that I have had a loss 2 weeks in a row. My pattern for the last little while seems to be lose one week, gain the next. I hope that pattern has broken now!

That's wonderful!

Has anyone heard about eating "outside" your points one day a week. I'm not exactly sure what it means, but my first week the leader said something about eating out of your points or outside your points once per week. She said it works better to do that. If I understood her right, she meant that we should eat more than our daily allowance at least once a week, but by how much I do not know.

As it turns out, that was her very last night as a leader in this state. She was moving away, and I forgot to ask her successor. Has anyone heard of this?

I'm not personally going to try it, unless I hear a lot about it. I'm going to the WW bulletin board to see if I can find anything there about it.
What I do, is just not count points one day per week and assume I've used all of my weekly points that day. I don't feel like I never get to splurge or let go and it's easier to rebound from one day than a little overboard all week imo.

That's great! I haven't had a gain at a weigh-in yet, but I know how that feels (when I did ww 2 years ago I would usually lose 3 pounds one week and gain 1.5 the next, so I felt like I was battling with the same 2 - 3 pounds for weeks).

No, I just found it the other day and thought about joining but I'm already too busy so I shouldn't add to my list of places to check
