Carpet Cleaning Company Recommendation Wanted

Hello all -

Please help me cut through all the marketing and different methods of carpet cleaning! I'd like to get our carpets professionally cleaned and would like to use the most gentle, non-toxic process available. After this initial deep clean, we'll keep up the carpet ourselves with natural products. Our carpet just has normal wear and a few spots - nothing major (no pets, no major stains).

Looking for specific company recommendations - either a national company or a local company if you are in the Atlanta area.

If you don't have a company rec, would like to know which method is the most gentle - dry, dry foam, high pressure, steam, etc, etc, etc.

Many thanks!

After checking out professional cleaners, I found it was much cheaper to buy my own carpet cleaning machine. I got a Hoover SteamVac Agility (Model F6215-900) for $179, no tax, no shipping, from Amazon.com. Looking now, I see it is still available: http://www.amazon.com/Hoover-F6215-9...5984061&sr=1-1

I used a very nice carpet detergent (Earth Friendly Products carpet detergent - available through www.drugstore.com, if you can't find it locally) spiked with OxiClean (?sp) the first time. Our carpets were filthy - especially the stairs. The machine has a decent brush attachment, hooked-up by a hose, for doing stairs.

The carpets came out great ... and, now I have the machine for future use.

Hope that helps.

Look up myzerorez.com

I saw a truck on the freeway a while back and I found the web site and it says that they clean with "empowered water." They use no cleaners and only heat and water to clean and disinfect carpets with NO residue. I want to use them when we get ours cleaned.

If you use them let me know what you thought of them.

I used a company at our old house that advertised "shorter dry time" and when I called they said they used all non-toxic cleaners and they carpets WERE actually pretty dry when they left which was nice!

We too are looking. I hope there are more responses. I inquired to a local "natural" carpet cleaning company. They advertised that their cleaner was citrus oil. When I called and spoke to the owner of the company, I asked what the other ingredients were in the cleaner. He hesitated and then said, "Ma'am, I can't begin to pronounce any of those!" I was like.. wtf, he's advertising natural cleaning. :

I bought a house back in the 90s, and when the owners moved out they trashed the carpet. I used ChemDry carpet cleaning service. The carpets looked brand new, it dried extremely quick and there was no chemical smell.
