Maya Sage was born 7/28/07 at 12:40 pm. I see from the announcements that I wasn't the only one in labor at that time. I could feel the "mothering" power in the room. She weighed 7lbs. 9 oz & was 22 inches long.
Here's the short version:
It was a very short & intense labor. I was in active labor from 9:30 am until 11:45. My water broke & then transition hit. All the transition shaking really freaked my husband out. She was engaged but still high up when I started to feel like pushing. She was also OP or "sunny side up", which didn't help. She had some heart decels and they started getting the OR ready. I was having a really hard time pushing, too. I felt scared of the pain, but at that point I got together all the courage I could and told myself that we had to go through the pain. We made it after pushing through about 5 contractions. I was shaken up for several hours from all the intensity. We got through it and I've made my peace with the delivery. I have a very peaceful and healthy baby.
She was OP, had the cord around her neck twice, and had a true knot in the cord. It was a good thing she had a long cord so that it didn't pull too tight.
she has some jaundice, but it seems to be clearing up. Nursing is going pretty good. We had some breast refusals yesterday, but last night and today have gone better. One day at a time!
