Why not start treatment (dietary & lifestyle changes) immediately instead of waiting to see what a three hour test might show?
My thought exactly - about the treatment, not about the baby. From the weight you're talking about, and your lifestyle, I can't imagine that you have wildly uncontrolled diabetes. I know that even when I "slip" and don't follow my diet, my sugars are okay when I do finger sticks. In that sense, my own body/nutritional sense is regulating my diabetes (I do get this weird nausea after eating lots of carbs - but can't find that anywhere as a symptom), so naturally you could be fine too. I didn't have any symptoms for GD. And a baby considered "large" in the US (as they considered mine to be) were not considered "large" here in Sweden. The lifestyle changes are so minor, it makes me mad that your doc wouldn't talk to you about them???????????

I wish I was in Sweden. All we have here in our state are men who want to micromanage and control everything about your pregnancy & birth. Every time I give birth here I end up feeling like I have been raped. Dramatic I know but I think the only difference is they have a license to do what they do.

I am going to buy a monitor for my own peace of mind and keep track of my sugars and diet.

Please write it all down, the date you took the test. The date YOU followed up and asked about it and were told it was not a problem. The date you finally got a call and were asked to take the 3 hour test. The OB's general attitude during your last exam and the fact that he never brought it up. All of it, make a copy and mail it to your health care provider.

I don't think it is far fetched to say it is like a rape when things are done to your body against your will or wishes. There are many, many women that feel this way about their births, which is so sad. I'm sorry you are going through this mama. Is there seriously any way you can switch to a mw, or a better practice? It is not ever too late to realize that your doc is not a good one, and find someone new. I just did this at 37+ weeks. Hang in there.
