Tell me about DONA

Thread Starter
I'm interested in becoming a doula and am debating between DONA and ALACE to certify through.
I am currently pursuing ALACE CBE certification and the price differences between the two organizations is relatively small.
The DONA training would be in my area and the ALACE training would require travel to Chicago (from Minneapolis).

What are the benefits to certifying through either organization?
Thanks!

Host an ALACE workshop yourself! That way you won't have to travel AND you'll attend the workshop and earn your certification free.

(FWIW, I don't think there are any comparisons to draw between ALACE and DONA.)

Huh? They both certify doulas, you could start there...

I'd be interested to know what you really mean. Everyone I know went through DONA. But I have no strong opinions about ALACE... is it really that much better, and how?

DONA is definitely more well-known among the mainstream crowd.

I'm certified with ALACE and I agree with their philosophy more than DONA.

How so? If you don't mind me asking.
