So shaky and weak feeling...

What should I do? I completely overdid it yesterday.

HISTORY from yesterday:
We had about 8 hours of driving yesterday, it was the last leg of our trip and we got home at 10 p.m. last night. Midway, we stopped at IKEA in Atlanta for a few hours. It was really fun, but just added to me doing too much. I had a bowl of hearty Kashi cereal before I left my brother's house yesterday morning around 7:45, then didn't have another good meal until around 3 p.m. at IKEA (I ate Salmon and rice). I drank 2 bottles of water on the road (I know that's not enough, but I was sick of stopping every hour and anxious to get home.) I also drank a glass of juice at IKEA and a Starbucks soy latte around 8 p.m. I had a few granola bars in the morning and early afternoon hours, but ate only crap after we left IKEA, since I just grabbed the kids some hotdogs on the way out. By crap, I mean, a cinnamon bun and some cookies on the way out of Atlanta. When I got home I think I was still on a caffeine high, because I couldn't stop. I completely emptied the car from our 5.5 week trip. I discovered after a half hour or so that our a/c isn't working. By 11 p.m. I started feeling really weak. I drank another bottle of water and got the girls and I to bed by 11:30. I didn't eat anything else because we have nothing in the house to eat. I have to go shopping this morning. Also, don't know if it's tmi, but I had bad diarrhea all day yesterday, probably from all the road food and I haven't slept enough for the past 4 nights now.

So, I felt extremely shaky last night and like I was going to pass out. I felt so bad I just started crying when I got in bed. I figured a good night sleep would take away that feeling, but I still feel bad this morning. I'm eating a bowl of cereal right now, not my favorite, just something I found in the cupboard with one of my dd's milk boxes poured over top from our trip. Then I'm going to finish off a bottle of water. But I don't know if I can go grocery shopping like this and I think I probably need some protein, like eggs, but I don't have any. I have some Kashi bars, but quite frankly, I'm sick of them. I've had too many on this trip since I'm rather limited in what I can eat still.

So, what else should I do? Obviously, I'll call maintenance this morning and get my a/c fixed. Getting the house below 85 degrees may help me too.

Alisha.

I'd say you need to REST today. Eat protein like there's no tomorrow, drink water, turn on the fans (and a/c when it's fixed) and REST.

Rest will be elusive today, but I'll try. I'm so tired of living out of suitcases and I'm anxious to get everything unpacked. And I've got laundry to do and grocery shopping to do, and just a ton of stuff to get organized after such a long trip.

I had a thought. I wonder if my blood sugar levels bottomed out. I'm prone to low blood sugar, so I usually feel better when I eat something sugary. Like when I had really bad morning sickness, I found that if I ate a few jolly ranchers, I magically felt a lot better, at least for a short while. So, with all that sugar I ate last night, I didn't feel bad, but then when you have too much sugar, it can cause your levels to go too low once it wears off. Isn't that right? But I'm not sure how to get my levels back even again. I don't want to just eat a bunch of sugar right now and feel better for just a short while. I don't normally eat that much crap/sugar, in fact, it's extremely rare for me.

Laura, I hate pedialyte, but maybe some uncolored gatorade. It's similar, right? I'm sure it has some crap in it that's not so good, but the electrolytes might help. I'm going to the store in a bit if I can muster up the energy. I just feel like I'm about to pass out and really don't want to go anywhere.

I know it's tempting to want to get the house back in order again after a trip, but let yourself recover before you start tackling things! Drink lots of fluids, eat some protein and REST!

Is there anyone you could ask to swing by the store for a few key items to tide you over until you're feeling better? Like the protein and fluids? It sounds like you need some time to build up your energy reserves -- please don't overdo it
today!

Well, I survived the store. I'm so weak, as much as I want to get the house in order, I truly don't have the strength or energy today. So, once I get the groceries put away, I'll eat something and drink some gatorade and then just rest for a few hours. Hopefully I'll feel better after that.

They won't come fix my a/c until the temp outside reaches over 80 degrees, since it's the weekend, they only come out for emergencies. The temp inside the house is 85 degrees, but outside, it's just a very humid 75 degrees. Once the clouds break, the temp is suppose to shoot up to 87, according to Yahoo weather. I think some air would help me too, but there's nothing I can do about that.

I'm feeling much better now. I've eaten 2 black bean and colby jack burritos, mmmm.... I'm about to eat my 3rd (they're pretty small!) There's even 5 g. of protein in the tortilla, so I'm really racking up the protein with these. And I drank about 12 oz. of clear gatorade. I feel a ton better now. Still no a/c, but it's currently 79 degrees outside, and once it hits 81 degrees, I'll be calling them.

Glad you're feeling better, Alisha!

There's always tomorrow for unpacking and getting your house in order. I think your body truly needs to recooperate after all the traveling, so resting today is a good idea.

Hope you get the a/c fixed soon! Are you at least parked in front of a fan?

Glad you're feeling better! Because I tend to feel worse in the evenings and have had two hard evenings after hot days where I wasn't eating and drinking enough, I would recommend you rest as much as you can, and pour on the water and protein and Emergen-C or Gatoraide.

Call a friend to bring over a few things if you need to.

looking at what you ate yesterday, you had a lot of sugar. I would definitely eat some good protein today, NO sugar and plenty of water

Oh goodness hun, this is the story of my life these days. I can not stay out of bed for more then a hand full of hours at a time without getting very dizzy, feeling sick and weak. I went to wally world today for some school supplies and spent little over an hour and almost again passed out. Got to my DDs cheerleading BBQ and even with me sitting down, it was horrible. How I drove home is beyond me. I am in bed and hope to stay here for the next few hours before making dinner and picking up and playing with the kids.

All I can say is that Soda, the horrible stuff, caffine and all, is a fast boost for me but I can never remember it when I am in the middle of what feels like a melt down. Oddly, my mood does not follow but I find it really hard to think then anyway.

(((((((hugs)))))))

Soda doesn't sit well on my stomach, but I can handle sprite. I'll remember that in the future. I really think it was a combination of exhaustion, lack of protein, and dehydration. My legs are still weak and I'm tired, but I don't feel horrible like I did this morning. The gatorade helped me so much. I can't remember which kind it is, ice something, it's pretty tasty. It's so hard to take it easy when there's no dh around. And I think nesting is kicking in because all I can see around my house is project after project that I need to do. Put curtains up, organize baby's clothes and diapers, put more pictures up (our walls look so stark to me after being away for so long), sew diapers and a 100 other things, do dishes, do laundry, etc... I'm having such a hard time sitting still today. And I've been away from all of my boards enough that I don't have the desire to sit in front of the computer for hours on end, which would be more relaxing, but I can't find anything to do on the computer. Next project, figure out what to eat for dinner.

, Alisha.

Hey! You take it easy, you over-achiever, You!

Seriously, though, Mama. During my last pregnancy, I had to constantly remind myself: if I get put on full bedrest, or give birth to another preemie...then, NONE of the stuff on my list will get done!

I know you're not at risk for PTL...but you are pregnant, with other children to care for...all by yourself... Cut your list in half, okay? Then, when you finish it...CELEBRATE!

Well, I did get some stuff done today, but I'm seriously baking from no a/c and it's fried me of energy. I was going to go to bed early (like by 9 p.m.) but the maintenance guys are still here. They've been here for hours with no luck on fixing it. They think it may be the motor and if it is, it will be a few days before they can fix it.

ETA: They just left and it's fixed! Of course, it will take awhile for the house to cool off, it's nearly 90 degrees in here. But I can feel cold air blowing!!! I'm so glad I don't have to suffer for another few days. They replaced nearly everything they could on the a/c unit.

Curtains... ya... I will get to that at some point. LOL And pictures on the walls too. Unpack more boxes....

For now I cound my to do list as taking are of the kids. Playing with them, lessons, and learning to knit. Oh, and I took a nap today even! Very happy about that. Will watch Big Love and crochet my son a ball tonight.

I am also waiting till next month to work on Longies and such. I am planning by weeks and months at this point.

I am happy you are feeling some better. Be kind to yourself. Your kids will notice!

Protein, protein, protein!

Even if its just a Luna bar or something easy. Shakiness often means your blood sugar is too low, and protien is the best way to keep it stable. Make sure to have protein in the morning too--high protein cereal, eggs, etc.

Let's hope the a/c holds and thank our lucky stars that these babies aren't summer babies! (Like my first three boys!)
