Do you wear your baby? - Page 2

I have a Lucky Baby pouch, a Peanut Shell pouch, a Cuddlywrap, and a mama-made mei tai. So far my babe likes the wrap best, but it's so hot here, and I'm not exactly a pro at wrapping, so I use the pouches more. The Lucky Baby seems to cause the baby to sink down like you're describing -- I think it's because it's a tad bit too big for me. You might try a smaller pouch.

Coming back to add that I mostly use my carriers when out in public. We don't do much babywearing at home -- we just hold him.

We have an old Maya wrap and a brand new way cool mai tai that I can't wait to use. I'm champing at the bit to get to feel more myself so that I can experiment with it all.

Us too- we just hold her all of the time. I wear her sometimes when I have to cook, clean, or take care of the other kids.

I can't go anywhere without getting comments on my moby wrap. I love it! Today I nursed her while shopping. COOLEST THING EVER!

another babywearer here! asher looooves to be held. i have a hotsling and 2different mei tais, and love both for different purposes. asher actually loves the sling(kangaroo carry, not cradle hold) and i'm sure it's because he can see out. he prefers to be in the sling as well during his fussy time at night. i use the mei tais when grocery shopping, or when he'll tolerate them--they're my preferred carrier, just unfortunately, they aren't his!

i also had a moby wrap which i didn't care for, and am currently saving PP for a beco!

I tried my wrap today and it didn't bother my incision at all and was sooo comfy! Yay! I really am not fond of my ring sling (OTSBH) so I'm so glad to have the wrap.

How do you do this exactly. I tried this yesterday in the kangaroo hold and it worked but felt a little uncomfortable.

i have this sling and it hurts my back to carry the baby in it!!!

which is such a shame b/c the couple times i have used it Natalie has LOVED it! Maybe i can get DH to carry her in it. I'm hoping that once my body recovers from birth and my joints stop being so lose i won't have this problem anymore! Which reminds me i need to go hunt down my snugglie from dd1 and see in Natalie likes it (even though i think she may still be too small for it)

Just want to make sure everyone knows about the videos on this site-- they are SO helpful!

My dh has fallen hard for the Baby Hawk. I just scooped up a used mocha Yamo on ebay. I also covet a cute pouch sling but I really should stop. If I properly untangled and restrung the Maya (they used it as a belly band/repositioning device during my labor) then that should really hold me for awhile, I'd think!

So far I have been using my mei tei mostly - and just figured out how to configure my maya ring sling for nursing a newborn. My pouch slings I don't love until they get a bit bigger and can hold their head up without support. I have a moby wrap too but for some reason haven't tried that out yet with this babe..
Babywearing has become a HUGE necessity for leaving the house with 2 kids - I could never manage keeping track of my 2 year old if I didn't have my baby securely strapped to me...

Totally agree. We just went to the vets today... 3 year old, not yet 3 week old and the dog. And the mei tai was a lifesaver. Plus, I'm getting my son used to navigating the car even better since he is now on the driver side... and I'm encouraging him to crawl in and out on the passenger side/infant car seat side.

I'm not carrying her as much as I would like as I'm still finding it awkward, but I'm practicing and hopefully will get it so it is easy and quick. I have a ring sling, pouch, wrap and mei tai to choose from and gravitate to the mae tai for ease.

I just put Sage in the pouch sling I made... she fell asleep almost instantly. I love it and if I was feeling a little bit better I might be up doing something around the house.. I've also got a slinglings pouch and a couple ring slings but have yet to try them out.

Yes, I am so glad to be a seasoned babywearer. With each subsequent child it becomes more and more necessary! Today we spent 1.5 hours in the grocery store trying to keep track of a 6 yo, a 3yo, a 2yo, and had dd2 in the Maya Wrap.

I have a Maya Wrap, a Hotsling, a recycled tshirt pouch, and a Didymos. All are great. Dd likes being on my back in the Didy for short periods of time (when it isn't too hot out) and she likes it on my front while I fold laundry. Walks and shopping are great with the Maya, easier to nurse in then she likes to be upright where she promptly falls asleep. I like the pouches when we go for a walk with her in the pram (I like her to fall asleep in the pram when I want to do yardwork so I can get more done and just wheel her from shady place to shady place). The pouches are both so small that I can just toss it in the pram in case I need to carry dd1 (2 yo) or dd2.

I think I will try to wear both my girls next time we are out shopping, maybe with the tshirt pouch and the Maya. Though dd1 likes to pat dd2 a little too hard (with affection.....) so it might not work out to well

Anyway, do you wear your baby? What carrier do you use?

Loving babywearing! I was just thinking how in the world do mamas not sling? I wish I knew about wearing your baby when my dd1 and 2 were born!
I have a maya and Emersyn LOVES it, if she's cranky I slap on the maya and she falls asleep or just looks around and up at me! If I am not wearing her someone is holding her at least 90% of the time.
I bought a Snugli for dh at Value Village for 5 bucks and he loves it. he says it's a chick magnet! The snugli hurts my back so I don't use it. I did try the maya with her lying down and I didn't like it, it didn't feel comfortable. So I went on the Maya site and figured out how to wear her upright and that felt a whole lot better. It took a few times to get comfortable with the sling and the carrier but now we love it! When we go for our evening walk Dh struts around the neighborhood like a proud papa!
My mil hates the sling... says she's too attached to me... DUH that's the point. And she's worried Emersyn will fall out? She feels very secure to me!
The maya does bother my back after awhile I'd sure love to purchase a few different kinds, wish there was a store that I could go to and try on different slings... oh ya that will be the store I'm openning in the spring!
Has any one heard of the Badger Bird's nest carrier?
http://www.ishopforbaby.com/bbabybirdnest.html I found one used for 40$ but I don't know if it's worth it the way Emersyn is growing!

Here's a pic of mama wearing Emersyn and our Annnual Folk Music Festival!

I have a Girasol Earthy Rainbow (gorgeous, I can't stop looking at it) and used it for the first time a few days ago at 7 days pp, it didn't hurt my incision either... I was so happy! I still stink at wrapping but off we go... I'm not that strong yet but hopefully that'll keep getting better so I can wear her longer. I also have a pouch sling that I need to learn to get dd into properly (omg that's the first time I typed dd, ever, wow I have a daughter!!!)

Oooooh- that sling is pretty! Gotta love babywearing for actually giving you use of both hands!
