full term with cold/flu

I feel really yuck, : I just hit full term today and have a flu-like virus to deal with. I have every nasty symptom, very very very sore throat, head ache, fever, pains, coughs, sneezing, tiredness. But I'm so grateful that I have this now and not when I'm actually due!

The only thing I'm not comfortable with is the coughing... I feel like somehow it bothers my baby, I have coughing fits every 10 minutes, I have so much mucus to cough up. Oh and my muscles hurt so bad with every cough.

Anyone else ever experience this? How did you deal with such discomfort? My doc says baby will be fine and that I should just rest and sweat it out.
I'm totally suffering right now and I don't know what to do. :

I had to take something too! I just wanted to drug myself up but had to settle with mild pain relief... it was ok, just enough so I could sleep for five minutes lol

I was horribly sick with my third baby. All through labor and everything it was awful. I am freaking out a little bit right now because I have a cold(my colds almost always turn into horrible sinus draining coughing fits and sinus infections), and I am so worried I am going to be in that boat again.

I hope you get through it soon. I really hope none of us has to go through labor and everything sick.

Not only did I get the worst cold ever but a couple days after starting to feel better I got a stomach bug.
Its been a horrible few weeks and now that I'm feeling better I'm more then ready for the baby to be here now.
The stomach bug and 9 months pregnant are NOT a good combo.

Ugh, so sorry for those of you sick! The heat is bad enough for me! I used a homeopathic remedy in early pregnancy for symptom relief (Boiron brand, can't remember the name right now, but it is "cold/allergy relief" and contains several different remedies) that worked pretty well, so I could at least rest. That and the usual liquids, vit c is about all you can do. Hope you feel better soon, definitely before baby decides to come!

At least I'm not alone with this cold.

Cold comfort, true, but there it is. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

I am petrified of going into labor while I'm feeling this yucky But at 39 weeks I'm also hoping to go into labor soon because I'm so big and uncomfortable.

Me, dd, dh and my sister (who is also my doula) have all had a cold for the last 3 days. Yuck. I'm 40 weeks today and hoping that this baby will wait a couple of days so we don't all get her sick. Then on the other hand, I'm sooooo ready for her to be born!

I wouldn't take any over the counter cold remedies that have strong medicines in them, such as Robitussen, DayQuil, NightQuil, Tylenol Cold, etc. Those are NOT good for baby. Regular Tylenol is OK to relieve aches and pains though. And a good homeopathic cold and flu remedy would be safe. Boiron makes one and B&T. Also, drinking hot water with lemon and honey is good for soothing a sore throat and flushing your system. I remember Josybear recommending parsley tea for colds and flus while pregnant.

You are not alone! I just came down with a cold/flu earlier last week. I couldn't believe it! I was saying to myself "Why did this have to happen now!?" I suppose it's better now that when I'm ready to give birth..small blessing lol. I'm still stuffed up at night and in the mornings but it's slowly getting better. I haven't taken anything, just letting it pass on it's own. I hated sneezing though, I'm glad that part is past. It hurt my back so much!

I have been fighting a cold on and off for a couple of weeks now. I'll get some sniffles and a sore throat and I fight it off with Zicam nasal gel. Then it comes back. Finally, last week I just did Zicam around the clock and it has seemed to have gone away for good. I think it really worked for me and I never did get a full blown cold.

I also have a cold at 39+ weeks Coughing and I even had ear ache (olive oil helped a lot). Hope I am better when the labor starts. About our body delaying, that could be 2 weeks ago I was already 3 cm, last week 4 cm and I am still here.

Oh, how I wish that were true. I swear the coughing with my third baby made me go early(at 38 weeks), I had a horrible cough, and the only time I wasn't coughin was during transition. I am doing everything I can to avoid that this time.
